Don't know what Roku is but if it gets you free stuff that is great, i use an Amazon Firebox  with Kodi installed, then you can add some apps for Movies and TV.....cost after buying box....ZILCH.

Nice Damage,

Figure'd I'd chime in with my similar experience, 2 months ago we went with DirecTV NOW, it's $35/month and came with a free Amazon Fire stick.  The fire is fine but the DTV app is garbage on it.  Using a couple of  AppleTV's now and the streaming is solid, saving about $150/mo.

Same here Damage, last month with Comcast my bill went up another $20 to $220 a month. Last straw for me, internet only for $64.95, and shipped all their equipment back. Just for kicks, been experimenting making bow tie antennas. 26 channels pulled in from Peoria and Quad cities. I'm a confirmed cable cutter!

Dunno about TVFox SOB, sounds like a low frequency receiver dependant on tower location. That's my issue, closest tower is 42 miles away, most are 60+. Takes quite an antenna to pull things in reliably, especially in multiple directions.

Settled on an eight bay design, I'll mount two in two directions and combine the signals. Mockups I built work very well, but aren't weatherproof.

We use the Roku with Playstation Vue, $54.99/month, saves us over $100/month and we love it.

70 to 80 bux a month is way too expensive for internet only unless you are getting fiber speeds!

Paying 50 here for Spectrum service 25D/5U

cut the cable cord several years ago and never looking back.

we stream amazon and netflix, rent at redbox and occaisionally use KODI for other things.

We gave Sling tv and playstation vue a try. We liked playstation vue better but honestly were not using it enough to justify keeping. So now we just have netflix and amazon prime tv on our roku, love that little thing.

An old post but I figured I would throw in my experience with the product. I have used sling and directTV now. Sling I have used for a few years now. I like to multiple streams of the directtv now but I believe the sling ap is much more solid. The directtv now app on the apple tv seems to crash more often than I would like. I have not tried it on the amazon box yet. The roku boxes have been pretty solid I have used them for years as well. Since the directtv app was yanked from the rokus I only had a limited experience with that setup. Sling also seems to be a little more ala carte for your choices as well. It is also around 20$ for the most basic package. That and a decent antenna which I get around 40 channels off of. Only a few channels are worth watching though in my area.
