Some Kill streak perks in COD4 MW2 are out of whack IMO.

Hey @Sammy I wanted to get your opinion and input if there are any changes to the kill streak system in MW2 freeze-tag that could be made to make it a little more fair. The issue I am talking about primarily, is that all of the kill streaks that give you something that flies in the air (UAV defroster and AGM in particular) can be shot down in like 2-3 seconds by the opposing team. Sometimes my UAV defrosters don't even defrost a single person. AGM is the same way. .I have had my AGM shot down after only getting one round off. And yet something like the AGM takes I believe 9 or 10 kills in a row to get....but artillery...which takes only a 4 or 5 kill streak...is essentially indefensible...once you launch it the opposing team can do nothing to stop it....only run out of the way. It just seems a little skewed to me that the AGM takes so many more kills to get..and yet can be instantly shot down. Is there any way to change this? Either the artillery should take more kills to get than an AGM...or there should be a minimum number of shots the AGM gets before it can be shot down. Or do you think my logic and reasoning is somehow flawed? If there is nothing that can be done to alter these parameters...then I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

SAMs will target the artillery launcher and destroy it. UAV defroster has the same health as the standard UAV.

One thing to keep in mind about health of these weapons is that unlike TDM there will be situations where its 16 vs 4. In such cases the team at full strength having one could seem overpowered as well.

Right...but really?? An AGM or UAV defroster that gets shot down so fast that it never gets even a single shot or defrost off. Even if the SAM turret does target the artillery launcher...the launcher ALWAYS gets at least it's first volley of rockets actually launched. There is never a time where artillery is "shot down" before it gets to launch something.

Could also mean more teamwork in taking them down. Which is a good thing.

11/2 full clip from acr takes down defroster if right... I would like to see ajustments made if u care a tube , rocket or projectile launcher since heavy then u have to care smaller gun. or like the big machine guns if u take grip u lose a perk.to be honest tubes and have gotten out of control.some maps r just tube fests .or limit 3 tubes per team who grabs tube first is the lucky ones.

With the grip you lose inventory. Pretty much the way it is in stock since perk 1 is for the most part explosives anyway. So you are asking that with the grip players should lose inventory AND a perk as well.

You are right some maps are just tube fests. But that is more because often 32 players are in a cq map probably designed for 18 at most.

Again, in stock, there IS a weight penalty for the LMG class. Shut off here of course. Players with LMGs run as fast as players using a glock as their primary.

@Sammy  Since we asking...Why does the Heli Track and KILL you as soon as you get thaw?  Not even come out of spawn protection and you dead..

 

Smaw Also can track an invisible player Wayyyyy before they spawn..

no I was giving example with lmg  that if u take grip u lose a perk ... if u take a tube or smaw u should lose type of class can only carry small guns cus of weight restrictions in real life  hand guns sm maching mp5 like  not acr m16 class or lmg.  just trying to keep it balanced. keep fps not first person projectile.

Yes. If it was RL. Keep in mind you are talking about a game where people would scream bloody murder if they could no longer hop around 10 feet into the air. Hardly RL. So be careful what you wish for. You may get it.  :lol:

 

edit: I checked the heli and while you are under spawn protection it shouldnt see you. However the moment you leave it, it does. Now if you are asking that it shouldnt see you at all for a certain time, spawn protection or not, that is another question.

What about if you are coming back from being a car/predator or something?  I swear it's killed me/tracked me while I'm in some sort of protection that other folks can't.  I'll try to take a video next time.

So playing in a map this evening it was patently obvious to many that the chopper seemed to be tracking the invisible folks and would kill you as soon as you spawned? Does that make sense?

No its not tracking you while you are in spawn protection. But as soon as you are out you are added to the list of potential targets and it will do so very fast. If for some reason you still choose to become visible out in the open right then, instead of maybe hiding under one of those wooden roofs in the vid, then you are likely the only player its going to see. Everyone else is keeping out of view so they dont get shot. And then it will shoot at you as the only valid target.

And no again, thats not the answer. Stealth is there so you can change your loadout before defrost if helis or sentryguns are on the map.  Maybe get combat medic at such times to give you longer spawn protection and more opportunity to find other safe locations out of view.  The answer is for people to adapt to the situation and use the tools provided when they are needed.

this isnt happening though...i was frozen got thawed and once i was sent to spawn i was killed with a chopper...i should have my 12 sec to run but no while invisible i was killed...more than once more than one map more than one day..i run combat medic so idk whats up...if ya change anything about the smaw how about another round :) and the smaw locks on invisible targets but not visible targets :(

Just so you know how this works:

The heli checks for targets every 1/2 second.

1: Get a list of all players. Nothing is known about them.

2: Start filtering by removing which ones 'fail' checks. The more you can narrow down this list the better it is for performance.  Do the more common ones first and end checking on the first failure and go to the next player.

3: The first is whether or not you are frozen. The next is simple distance (this is not the actual recognition check). Are you even close enough to even be seen in the first place. On bigger maps many player checks fail here also depending on how close to the center the heli is. Next, filter out friendlies and spectators. By now at least %50 have failed. Usually more. If the enemy team is losing badly then that might even go up to %90. Check for spawn protection (spawn protection ends when the timer ends not when the weapon is fully raised). Check for stealth. Note that for stealth, as shown in the hints, that if you fire a non-silenced weapon this check 'passes'.

4: Run a sight trace to the target. This is the last step since it is the most expensive to do. Sight traces work by 'how much' of the target is seen. Meaning that the heli has to see a certain percentage of the player or more to remain valid. By default at least %50. If less than that the checks fail. Go to the next player. If the check passes, add to the valid target list.

5: At this point everyone remaining on the list can be seen and is a potential target. However threat factors are now involved. Players shooting at the heli have the highest threat level. Especially those with machine guns. It is also based on distance. The closer you are the higher the threat level. The player with the highest threat level is now attacked if the heli is not otherwise already engaged and the turret can actually turn far enough towards him. If everyone else is taking cover or keeping out of sight, and you choose to come out of spawn in the open, you are the only threat.


So, if you are spawn protected... meaning the timer hasnt reached zero... the check fails at #3 and the heli doesnt check whether or not it can see you or how much of a threat you are. Also, for those that get the stealth heli that patrols above you, it is better for you to remain near the center of the map to maximize the number of potential targets.
