Ok when I did this build I bought windows 8. Didn't have a problem till the 10 free update. On COD4 nothing but problems why I haven't played in months . If I reformat computer with the Windows 8 disk is there a way to stop the 10 update? If not I would rather just get a new Windows 7 disk. Next question is will 7 work ok with the new games coming out? HELP PLEASE MISS PLAYING!!!!!!!!!!! HeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaW!

OMG Mule, all this time not playing because of that? You should of come and asked sooner.

Windows 10 will does not do the free update any longer. You should be good to go on Windows 8.

I use windows 7 ultimate and have no problems and will have no problems on future games.

Some may say they prefer windows 10 but you do not have to have it to play them. That I know of.

I will never put the spyware windows 10 in any of my pcs everrrrr!!!!

If you went for the free Win 10 you will get the update again on Win 8 or if  your purchased it, if you dont want it when you update
Win 8 just uncheck the Win 10 option.....or try this i havent , always blocked the win 10 originaly used the  GWX control panel app....https://www.howtogeek.com/228551/how-to-stop-windows-7-or-8-from-downloading-windows-10-automatically/

I thought microsoft turned off the auto w10 install because you have to purchase it now. Microsoft said they do not support older versions any longer.

I use w7 and it does not do it anymore. This was the update ( KB3035583) in w7 that forced the w10 install. But it isn't there anymore.

Basically all you have to do is turn off windows update.

If you’re looking to upgrade your existing Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC, go to Get Windows 10 to learn more about upgrade options. If you’re on an Enterprise or Education edition, the tool won’t work for a clean installation. Please see the Volume Licensing Service Center for more information.

They did turn off the  the auto install after a yr,But if you previously had it installed it will keep trying to install it through  updates
