heard speak of converting maps to use in COD. is it possible to convert maps from other games , like Unreal Tourney? there are maps i would love to play here

theres a converter for cod that lets you convert cod maps . this will make you the .map file only  heres the settings for it

pause = 1				-- wait for a key stroke at the end of the process

batch_file = 0			-- write batch file for quick redecompilation and copies BSP file
statistics = 0			-- writes statistics text file

export_raw_lumps = 0	-- exports raw lumps (lump splitter)
export_html = 0			-- exports lumps / bsp in HTML format, else in TXT format
export_bsp = 0			-- exports interpreted data of all lumps
export_lumps = 0		-- exports interpreted data per lump

map = 1					-- writes MAP file
map_version = 5			-- MAP file format for either (CoD) 1, 2, 4 or 5; 0 defaults to BSP version
map_layers = 1			-- enables layers
map_brushes = 1 		-- appends brushes
map_triangles = 1		-- appends all triangles stored as in the draw lumps
map_entities = 1		-- appends entities
map_models = 1			-- appends models
map_spawns = 1			-- appends spawns

caulk_brushes = 0		-- makes all brushes caulk (except tool textures)
caulk_tool_brushes = 0	-- makes all tool brushes caulk
caulk_triangles = 1		-- makes all triangles caulk (except tool textures)

layer_split = 1

for unreal you can use  xtremes ut2004 to ut3 converter   which exports everything into folders like this

then open myLevel.t3d with 3D Object Converter

open .t3d from unreal with http://3doc.i3dconverter.com/   3D Object Converter

now save as 3d studio binary mesh .3ds

after import to 3ds max

do whatever edits you need to do and export to object and use the cod xmodel converter or export as .map which there is a plugin for that on the internet somewhere

lol I know some who have tried this but it has a lot of bugs in it. It also leaves a lot of bugs in the map.

i just got one in cod4 i manage to convert AggressiveAlleys from ut2004 to cod4

1:  i noticed anything that had a open door or window is closed(uncut) so that has to be redone

2: i noticed the buildings from left are on the right  they got swapped somehow but its fine

3: at least theres a base where you can start from

Well anything that brings more maps into a game is a good thing. But its all in the time it takes. So in the end if you spend more time fixing things that it would of to simple make it or even worse on final compile you have un found glitches it just makes for a bad map. I could be wrong I've never done much with that program and my info comes from other s who have. Still its worth a good try I think.
