Windows 10 on recent Intel hardware shouldn't be noticeably slower unless you go hunting for it with some benchmarking software, but if you've got an AMD CPU, it appears that you may be about to get bent over and have the proverbial cactus go in dry.

From Microsoft;

"Microsoft will temporarily pause Windows OS updates to devices with impacted AMD processors at this time."

to be honest, this is why I am not on top of updates. I know there are critical updates, but it seems every time I do it, it slows everything down.

Just don't update until they fix this stuff, the last update that fucked everything up around October/November time, i just held off installing it for over a month, it probably wouldn't have caused me a problem anyway but when it was finally installed everything was ok.

I never have auto updates turned on.  And I have 8 pc's in various rooms (6 AMD and 2 Intel).   Windows 7 SP2 on all, but 1 (windows 10).   And the laptop with Windows 10 is set up like 7.  I put 10 on it for shits and giggles and turned all the damn auto updates and privacy shit off.  Should have left it alone.   Hell I ran XP forever.   If it aint broke !!!!!!

I never have windows update turned on. I have not manually updated my w7 since they tried to force w10.

I am a 100% supporter of AMD!!!

My laptop has linux on it so no worries there.

Keep in mind that along with the Windows update, to be totally protected, a motherboard firmware update is also required. Then comes the real slow down. Gigabyte currently offering firmware updates for 6th, 7th and 8th generation platforms and x99, x299 platforms.
