Lately I have been having problems in COD4 where my FPS will drop to 16 FPS and less, making it unplayable.  I never have a problem running it at 250, and my graphics card is capable of a lot more.  What would cause my FPS to start doing this?  I have never had this problem before.  Should I try updating my NVIDIA drivers?

I WILL CHECK MY POWER SUPLY IF THE FPS DROP. IT MEANS THE GPU IS NOT GETTING THE POWER IT NEED. NO UPDATE PROBLEM HERE. GO RUN A 3DMARK PROGRAM TO TEST THE VIDEOCART WORKING FULL. THIS WILL SHOW YOUR PROBLEM ...GOOD LUCK

Hmmm, nothing running in the background.

I'll check the 3D Mark and see if that is it.

Here are my results from 3DMark.  I am not sure why they are not better.  I have an I7 with a GTX670 that has 2048K.  How are my results only better than 9% of all results?  What else could be going on?  I am not over heating.

Which antivirus are you running? Is it fully up to date and have you run a full scan recently? Worth checking there if not.

Before doing complicated things do the simple thing first - check the card is seated correctly in its slot - take precautions for static. Me I would reseat it again but try a simple push supporting the motherboard beneath, they sometimes creep out with movement.

you monitor the core temps, see if the fans are clear and cooling it?  Hot cards will throttle...   https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy

You tried unplugging one of the monitors as you seem to be running 2, one at a time see what results are. Hard drive does look suspicious but other things would show up I guess Could be pcie bus settings are not correct, sometimes on auto they slip back, can you check what they are, presume your system should be generation 3. The board is in the high speed slot isn't it?

That is strange, bro...   Also, only see 2 HDD's on SpeedFan?...and then the 3rd on Speccy not posting a temp.....if something sudden like that happened to me, I would suspect overheating of some component.  Gl with the issue.

OK, I think I figured it out.  I have an NVIDIA card and the last time I updated drivers , it downloaded the GE Force  Experience, which does some recording of games, I guess.  I turned that crap off and voila!  No more FPS drops.  Thanks for all the input!

Dammit, That's all it is?  I talked to Nvidia Tech Support and they talked me into one of these:

Fuckers!  I'm going to return it!
