Yesterday or day before the ping was perfect 70-75 now its jumping to 600 which is bull crap and i cant play for shits... players are there then they are gone the next second. I thought maybe i needed to restart my PC and modem but no that wasn't the issue cause it still existed after reset. was on freeze tag 2 then restarted then joined freeze tag 1 same shit. please find a solution so everyone can play happily  without their pings jumping up n down. heard that the server was moved back and the ping appears better for uk folks and crappy for us folks. before that move it was fine for the us and crappy for the uk....until next time.... sorry to sound like a bitch...just seem like a bitch it just seems like no one really truly fixing this.

Not sure what the problem is but  my ping has been fine, hasn't really changed and I'm not that far from you. Hope you figure it out.

ive been in my house for 2 months and playing for nearly a month and ping was steady for 70-75, never changed anything in my house in modem n etc wise or running any norton or any related programs, never changed any software settings n etc. it is the server location or redirect location crapping out. im not the only one who is suffering from this.

I don't know Acorn.  The redirect was moved 2 months ago and my connection is actually more stable with very little difference in ping and almost no CI's anymore.  Maybe @Sitting-Duc can help.

Actually it looks like they were moved back, so everything should be back to the way it was.

I can not stress this enough.. the redirect will have zero effect on game play, pings, lag, or the like. All it is is a bunch of files on a server - doesn't matter where they are. The only thing it effects is how quickly you can download the map. After that there is no interaction.

The redirect move was simply copying the files to New York onto a server and then updating the config on the servers to 'give' the new location to connecting clients. The switch back just updated the config to go back to the server in Canada. Other than the config change the game servers were not touched in any way and the change does not interact with players who are either already in the server or who already have the map downloaded.

Unless an issues affects ALL players on a server there is nothing we can do.

one of the things that I often forget to do is to run some benchmarks when things are going well or when I move to a new location so I can have an idea of how bad things are when they aren't going right.

do a ping to the server and a tracert at your command line and see where the hops largest.

MPFourOne:~ yaccster$ traceroute 162.248.95.178 traceroute to 162.248.95.178 (162.248.95.178), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

This issue is on the Client side (yours), not the server side.

I understand you haven't made any changes, but parts go bad eventually and stuff can go wrong for lots of reasons.

My most important question is about your service - Company/type/speed.

Wifi, Satellite and 4G signals cause the most problems from my experience. Since the issue was on both of the servers (with different IPs) I think you need to do some troubleshooting to find the cause.

I would do what Yac suggested above to start.

Run some speed tests on different sites/servers at different times of the day.

Call your ISP and have them check your connection/modem. I have had the same service for 5 years and have had the modem/router replaced for issues 3X. They are always on and eventually crap the bed. Once I only had one for a month before they replaced it.

Let us know how you do or if you have ????'s

I had that happen to me once and it turned out my isp was redoing lines in the area. Also like Kickn said I too have had modems replaced that decided they wanted to retire.
