It is my personal opinion that people who enforce a dress code in a work environment have a power struggle. I feel that comfortable people are more productive. I hate wearing dress clothes, and I would rather wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt. That is what I wear when I play video games, and I reluctantly ask all of you, what do you wear when you play video games?

Shorts.  In the winter I put on a T shirt as well.  It's usually hot AF where I live.

I enforce a dress code....if a service tech shows up at your home with ripped jeans, a 76 Stones shirt (heh) uncombed hair and crappy sneakers, how comfortable would you feel with him working on your heating system considering its fire and carbon monoxide and stuff....Its not my sense of power but the credibility and reputation of the company at stake.  People judge looks...cant change that.

Now when I game.....well like @TBB said.....8x10's available for sale...rofl....

I work on locomotives, you have to wear clothes that have no holes, steel toe boots, hard hat ,safety glasses and earplugs. I wear short sleeve shirts because it is too fucking hot in Texas!

In front of the computer at home, depends on the temperature and whether or not anyone else is around.

Few like enforced dress codes but a lot also depends on whether or not you interact with people. Your appearance reflects on the company and they pay you so they call the shots. So long as its reasonable and they arent demanding you shell out a huge sum of money for one days attire.

But even without a dress code occasionally the brass comes by, or even the owner, and making a good impression on them can help advance your career. If they are looking to place someone in a more supervisory position you are more likely to get it than someone in the aforementioned Stones t-shirt.

People that dress lazy for work will work lazy. When in the Marines we had to always adhere to a dress code and I am thankful for it. Now that I own my own company and work from home I still dress not lazy. I have gone to businesses where people look like they just rolled out of bed and to me it gives a bad image of the people I am dealing with. And, if you don't like the enforced dress code go work somewhere else.

I guess what I meant was I see no point in wearing a suit/shirt and tie. To me, jeans and a polo are good enough. I don't judge people by how they look, but I am also against things like standardized tests in schools. I'd rather wear a uniform than dress clothing. One small reason I got an Engineering degree was so that I might not have to wear dress clothing, yet I have to wear business casual and ties for meetings with the customer. It's just bull shit.

I hear ya man. I have to wear a uniform to work. Everyday a shirt and tie and a freaking hat. In the winter I must wear a double breasted jacket. I would much, much prefer some nice slacks and a polo shirt. However, as previously stated by another poster, it is all about company image. A well dressed person commands respect and confidence in others. This includes fellow employees as well as costumers. Also, and more importantly, it promotes the image that the company wants to project to the  public and it's business partners. I hate wearing a hat and tie, but I am paid to do it - so I wear them.

As for gaming - Usually I do that naked :yahoo:

Most employees fast food, construction, labor stuff wear uniforms. Steel workers and most company workers wear steel toe boots, no ripped jeans and a form fitting t shirt.  Office workers are mostly casual wear.

Management and up, those who deal directly with the client usually wear suits, dressy stuff, almost formal LOL most of them look so uncomfortable.

I remember one time I had a meeting with a president of this company. I wore a pair of pants, a tunic top and a pair of flat shoes. (so comfy) I walked in and he was fully decked out. I made him take his jacket, vest and tie off. Told him the meeting wouldn't start till he did lol I commented that the meeting went way better after I seen how comfortable he was. I must say he was a little shocked at my request hahahhahaha

Thats some funny right there! I dress very comfortable and "lazy" at work. I wear shorts in the summer, jeans in the colder months, rock band shirts 24/7, I rock an 80's style jean jacket covered in band patches, Oh, I also have a dozen or so tattoos I proudly display..... I pull in 70g a year, work in a laboratory  of a plastics factory, have worked my way up from being a floor sweeper on the floor not knowing a thing about plastics to running the company lab... I am one of hardest working employees in the company, have not missed a day of work in over 11 years, support my family and am an amazing father all while dressing "down" and being a medicinal pot head! Sadly it is the people who think the way a person dresses, or how they cut their hair, or what type of shoes they wear reflects on the person they actually are or their work ethic or anything is mind numbing. Judge a person for the person they are, you may just enjoy a whole new walk of life within your life

Band T's for life!!!!

Sad but would you truly respect your head of state/royalty/head of company if they wore a t shirt, jeans and smoked joints - be honest.

Geez, TBB, my only request was that you try something "new" and pose with a "woman:  W-O-M-A-N."

I was slightly distressed at my last order from you, since you must've "inadvertently" missed the "wo" part of "woman."

Who was he, by the way?  He always seemed to like being behind you . . . and you seemed perfectly content being in front . . .

Hhehehahhehhehehehheheah!!

You drew first blood, bud, not me!!

And if Sweet @Icequeen is "setting the price," forget it:  we all know how women over-value everything . . . except their own man.

True statement, Strapping Gents(?) of >XI<?

Lol, I love you, Sweet Ice Cream.

Happy Father's Day, to all you Dad's out there.
