Just curious about opinions. If you have one and are interested in posting about it.

Back in the UT days there was the translocator. Reading around its one of those controversial love-hate things. Personally I didnt really see a big problem with it especially on really big maps to get around. UT wasnt a 'reality' military FPS. However not too different from tactical insertion except that you could throw it. Likely done in part in cod because they didnt want to have to deal with closed environments so people cant throw them off the maps. I remember some really good players translocating into the air and either throwing it again, doing it over and over to move great distances, or to come down on top of players shooting down (imagine extreme bunnies).

Was it a good thing for the game? Or was it terrible but could be made good with adjustments?

Just my opinion but terrible, once there are too many 'gizmos' I lose interest.

I  can say that about more games than I can count.

But yes I know there is a big audience that prefers bare bones, so to speak.

Oh, it was fun!  I could skywalk...especially loved it on maps like Facing Worlds; was also a great joy to run the ledges, find one & either wait for it's owner to reappear or just shoot it for a nasty surprise.  The revolver rocket launcher was nice too: Spread, Single-focus...or just drop the charges in the base of the tower as I ported to the top.

Translocator was always a blast. It was great for working around choke points, and could get you into some rediculous vantage points that would normally be inaccessible. Generally I feel it made the game a lot less predictable.

omg, the good old days.... when ppl hated u just for xlocking around and sitting in secret places, hiding, camping and sniping (still wondering why they didnt see the smoke of the fireplace and marshmellows) .... or when u get up there, shoot them and xlock back to the bottom before they realize u where there.... or when u shot the xlock of someone else to destroy it so he died when he used it.... aaaawwwwwwwww.... really good old times, i LOVED the xlock .... but also HATED it cause it made me crash so fuckin many times when i tried to get up a high building. For UT it was really fun, but i cant imagine it at another game.

What kind of adjustments where u thinking of @Sammy ?

The Sombra character in Overwatch uses this ability heavily.

I had to respond tis one... I freaking loved the translocator! I would (and still will) absolutely destroy EVERYONE using it. A handful of us from a defunct UT freeze tag clan called PSI all joined XI around the same time - and a couple of us were masters of using the trans as a weapon.

In those freeze tag mods of UT, you could telefrag someone and it would yell 'SCORE!' and actually take away one point from the victim and give you two points. As you can imagine it caused many tears (even more than knifing in COD).

Some other freeze tag mods allowed you to telethaw. However, it made for a lot of stalemate games. It was hard to pin the entire other team down in the time limit.

Either way I had to comment on the damn trans. I miss it. To me, using the trans made the game feel like it added another dimension. However, it will severely punish those with bad in-game spatial awareness.

If you ever put that in another current game I can see myself playing and gaming too much again... :)
