Hey all,

I have been playing here forever.  I have been playing with out a mic for a long time now.  For some reason my head set just quit on the mic, so I bought a new headset to fix the issue.  Well no luck.  I had the manufacturing company help but they said it was my computer.......imagine that!  Any way I need help in figuring out how to get the mic to work, is it a mother board issue or is it a sound card issue?  I am not sure where to turn for help.

Let me know what we can do for help, much appreciated thanks.

If you have a sound card with programmes that work over windows you may need to adjust settings there, I have to do it every time I start my computer

Guessing you tried obvious even though many overlook and think plug play, white speaker icon bottom menu bar, right click select recording and change to new mic,if usb, prob show as usb 2, in TS you will have to change it to,if new headset came with software  ie like my cheapo Sades, you have to enable it

Do NOT update Realtek AMD drivers from Realteks site. Alot of there Windows 7,8 and 8.1 drivers are not WHQL signed. Windows does not play nice with un-signed drivers.

This driver will work on MOST AMD 970 boards with Realtek audio. Not all 970 boards.

The PC that I have hooked to my TV has a Asus M5A97 EVO. I just updated it's Realtek audio driver the other day.  Realtek 6.0.1.8522  is the newest one that works with the AMD 970 chipset motherboards.  This is the Official WHQL signed release.

Or

Pick your motherboard from this list of 4 at the manufacturers site. https://us.msi.com/search/MS-7693/product/1

All 4 are MS-7693 boards But the MSI 970 Gaming uses a different set of drivers than the other 3.

Select your motherboard,

then click "Support",

then click "Driver",

Select "Win7 64"

then click "Onboard Audio Drivers" and download the latest driver.

you might have mobo sound driver (realtek) in conflict with the gpu sound driver. you need to disable either one or the other.

Ok if not all  the above, guess you tried headset on another pc/laptop? if works there then your port more likely dead....... worse comes to it just buy a cheap sound card and bung it in,prob solved...if you live this side of the pond have an old but good sound card you could have my Creative Xi infinty, with driver cd for Win 7 lol    and also do you connect via pc case or  direct rear mother board? if your using  phono plugs try cleaning the connection port with switch cleaner....

you will have to set it to where you live i cant shows international lol

Bestbuy /Walmart most pc shops sell em
