Finally have local access to all the wonderful import beers (Hefe Weizens being my favorite).  Figured I'd start with the beer from the oldest continuously-operating brewery in the world: Weihenstephaner!  Let's see what you guys & gals like.  192_2681.thumb.JPG.21dfdfc1576fd69b6492c21d74becddf.JPG

It's lager not beer eurofizz like a lot of them, beer is dark, lager is pale, and beer should be drunk at room temperature to get the taste.

another thing is once the alcohol content gets above four that is all you can taste, the really strong beers taste metallic. If you are not scared of not being thought a man try the ones around two, the taste really comes through.

We understand that, you don't brew any? but I understand that small breweries are really taking off over there, ignore preconceptions and go for taste and flavour not hype. Our ancestors drank beers a lot weaker than we do now, it seems to be fashionable to be stronger and stronger which ruins the flavour, if you can find an amber ale at around 2% and drink at room temp you'll never want a lager again.

actually to me a 2% beer is a beer that is not well brewed at least for the efficiency as the sugars in the grains were not transformed well into alcohol, wich means bad fermentation and/ or bad mash or maybe not enough grains/too much water.

Saying this almost every beer above 13% (with some exceptions, i i still have some in the cellar) taste bad.
but under than that anything is possible, no matter what the levels

Welp, Weihenstephaner has been continuously brewed since the year 1040 & the alcohol content is 5.4%...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they've had enough time to get it right.

If you ever go to beeradvocate.com-the most popular and comprehensive beer site on the internet- you will see that just about all their top 250 beers-as considered by readers & members who have voted- are well above 2%.  Shit, the top 25 are all in the 8-12% range...so much for 2%  =D.  https://www.beeradvocate.com/lists/top/

Most-popular beers?  All in the 7-12% range.  Doesn't make your opinion invalid; just in the minority from what I can gather.  I've not tried enough to decide; but 2% sounds way too weak.  https://www.beeradvocate.com/lists/popular/

As a matter of fact, I can't find one beer that's 2%; are you sure that's beer you're drinking?  =)

I have drank the 2% beers on a trip to Utah years ago.  You drink and drink and drink and then piss and piss and piss.  And nothing happens

He was talking about how anything above ~2% kills the flavor...never heard of that...all the tasty wheat beers I like: Weihenstephaner, Franziskaner, Erdinger, Ayinger, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr are all well above 2%...far from detracting from the flavor, the top-fermenting yeast that's been used for these beers lives until ~5-8% alcohol & specifically is chosen for the wonderful banana, fruit, clove kinda flavors they impart.  Most of these breweries have been using these strains of yeast for over 500 years, some for almost a 1,000 years!  So I don't know what these "traditional" breweries that produce 2% are tbh.

11% and super tasty   Just not cheap. $20 to $25 a bottle    But worth the treat once in a while.

Yessir; nice ales & lagers-especially wheat beers- were consumed in place of water for sanitary purposes & also as a caloric & nutritional supplement.
