I turned my pc off and when I woke up my pc would not turn on. After all the testing was done and parts from other other pcs were tried it was determined that my mobo and cpu were fried. I only had them for 1 1/2 years. I have never had this happen to me before.

So I ordered a new mobo and cpu.

Mobo: ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Cpu: AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 8-Core 3.4 GHz (3.8 GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 95W YD170XBCAEWOF Desktop Processor

They will not be here till next week. Oh Em Gee I am having withdrawals LOL

No need. The one I have is a 850 watt turbo and runs perfectly.

A fried Mobo and CPU? Very unusual indeed.

cpu: amd ryzen 5

took the battery out and placed it back in. Also tried a brand new one.

tried another cpu and it didn't work.

tried my cpu in another pc and it didn't work

the solid red light was a good hint it was fried and so is the mother board.

I would be very wary of the power supply. In my experience its very rare for the MB and CPU to go at the same time unless something else caused the power overload.

I would hate for you to get the new parts and for it to happen again.

The voltage meter showed it was just fine.

Yes but was that under load ?.  it might seem fine running happily until you start asking it to run everything then it could be causing a surge . If possible try it in an old comp if you can just to be safe.

Hopefully you are right and it is fine.

My cooler: AMD Socket AM4 4-Pin Connector CPU Cooler with Copper Core Base & Aluminum Heatsink & 3.81-Inch Fan with Pre-Applied Thermal Paste for Desktop PC Computer.

I removed the pre applied thermal paste and used arctic silver.

I did not have a power or a heating issue.

I am doing more tests on the old one to try to figure out what happened.

Sounds great nice job ?

But I would make sure you have Surge protection because something caused the old MB and CPU to be fried.

And if you can work out what happened to the old ones that will help you 100% in protecting and putting in safe guards to protecting your new Rig.

But overall nice work ....... Now get in game so we can Shoot your Ass .....??

That has been taken care of for years.

LMAO I do not play COD 4 or COD W@W anymore. I got bored of them. I am patiently waiting for Hell Let Loose to come out.

The one thing I was grateful for with my new mobo and cpu was I did not have to wipe my hard drive. That was always been a pain in my a$$ in the past.

Well might I suggest,  getting yourself a spare hard drive and clone your existing one that way you never have to worry about hard drive fails.

The program I use to clone my drives is MACRIUM REFLECT its free to download and use and has a lot of features that come in handy. ?

I found out that it was just the mobo that fried. CPU is still good and it will be kept for a replacement (just in case).

How is that Ryzen treating you so far? I was looking aat the ryzen 7 2700x for shit and giggles. My i7 4770K OC'd/GTX 1070 rig is still fine with all my games, not really justified to upgrade for me, but Ryzen seems quite interesting. Most promising AMD offering in a long time...

Just built a 2700x system  2 weeks ago. Moving up from my old FX 8350. Needed new board and memory but used everything else.

MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon - Not the best for overclocking but has 8 SATA's

Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz (2x8GB)

From old rig---

GTX 970

Corsair H90 Cooler -  using MX-4 compound - Max temp in stress test 65-68c

Samsung EVO 860 - 1T boot drive

SanDisk SSD 1T - Programs drive

2  3T's Toshiba HDWD130, 1  1T  Toshiba HDWD110  -  Storage drives

2 SATA Blu-ray Burners

Why so much HD space asks you????  To back up 2 laptops, a computer I use for testing stuff, backing up other peoples systems when they bring them to me to fix, stuff like that...

As for the 2700x it will play anything out there with no problems, but..... When it comes to rendering and converting videos, this thing rocks.
