Hi all

I came home from 2 weeks holiday (Morocco) last Wednesday, turned on me pc and after 2 mins the display went all weird, and went to a resolution of 360!

after much swearing, wailing and gnashing of teeth, I guessed the graphics card went tits up....so I sent for a new one.

In the meantime I bought a second hand pc from a shop, and here are the specs.

Windows 10 pro.

Intel core i5-357ok cpu @3.40ghz

16gb Kingston hyper beast ram

GeForce gtx 980ti zozac graphics card

azroc -z770c formula motherboard

falcon atx gaming case

2tb h/drive

thermal take water cooling

corsair gaming mouse

gaming keyboard

I don't know much about computers so did I do ok? I paid £600 for it.

also I managed (with a lot of swearing!) to fit the replacement graphics card to my old pc....and it works!

regards

a (very stressed out)

I know I don't like win 10 either I prefer 7, I'm looking into changing to 7 but I have been told it may cause problems?

I don't know if this pc had win 7 originally or was built with win 10 from the get go.

It doesn't matter what windows version was used before as it is the users preference. Anyone can wipe any pc with the version they want. It is usually the motherboard and how it was built that does not allow older windows versions. My old motherboard was suppose to use only w10 but a few hacks later w7 worked awesome.

The newer high end motherboards only allow w10. No hacks yet for w7 for them.

I do believe that motherboard you have will support w7 without any issues.

Good spec for £600 and don't worry about W10. I prefer W10 above all previous versions. Never had any issues with it.

I am pretty sure the latest Intels also require win10.

Yep, that's true. You will like W10. Remember with every new operating system some people say I stick with Win95/98, XP, W7..... W10 is the way to go mate.

LOL hahahahhahahahhahahhaha I will stick to w7 no matter.

I am not one of those people just saying stick with an old version for the sake of not wanting the update to w10. I made my decision based on the facts of what w10 has incorporated into this update. I read and learn about newer updates before I choose to update or not.

9 out of 10 peep do not know how to turn off all the spyware that microsoft has embedded into w10, do you?

Why have so many corporations/businesses world wide gotten rid of w10 and turned to linux on all their computers if w10 is so great?

Why have so many peeps stayed/gone back to w7 or turned to linux if w10 is so great?

Well, one day I know I will need win10 installed for certain uses. So I suppose I will use it for a main OS but also use a Linux virtual machine for all private needs.

I have now ghosted my hard drive with w7. I will never ever use w10. I would just use Linux if there was no other choice.

I have a laptop that I wiped w10 off and put Linux in for all my private stuff.

Hi all, J t here again

Just to update everybody after fettling my older (preferred) P.C with a new (well, new to me!) graphics card and with everything running tickity-boo, I accidently left a book pressing down on the space bar as it was booting up, and guess what? the damm thing then refused to boot up...it said quote, 'please put a boot disc in your preferred boot up device' un-quote and it wouldn't go any further, after an hour or so of buggering about, I had to switch it off because I was gonna put a boot up somewhere it wouldn't prefer!......

Anyway the day after, I was telling my next door neighbour about it and he said I'll have a quick look, go and make a brew (we British, in times of disaster tend to think that a cup of tea will fix anything) when I got back it WAS FIXED!....apparently if you keep pressing F8 as it's booting, it takes you to a screen and you select 'boot from last good point'................

So, I'm sorted again! and my neighbour bless him, wouldn't take any reward, I was so chuffed, I offered him money, beer, cigarettes, an hour with the wife,...but no nothing!..

Now that's a mate!

 Cheers
