That's what I like about the castle doctrine in my state; if someone breaks into your house, you can legally assume that they have bad intentions & proceed sending lead downrange.

(1)  A person is presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another if:

(a) The person against whom the defensive force was used was in the process of unlawfully and forcibly entering or had unlawfully and forcibly entered a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle, or if that person had removed or was attempting to remove another against that person's will from the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle;  and

(b) The person who uses defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry or unlawful and forcible act was occurring or had occurred.  https://codes.findlaw.com/ky/title-l-kentucky-penal-code/ky-rev-st-sect-503-055.html

I live in the 'country'.  I regularly step into the adjacent field and enjoy target practice.  In 30+ years of living here, I've never had a problem with tresspassers.  One new neighbor felt it necessary to call the state police to report sounds of gunfire. Lol.

In uk you get life for killing burglars, and if your barbed wire cuts them they can sue you, so make the most of it while it lasts, the pussies are winning politically.

That's why we have the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights to our Constitution.  ?  Federal Government has no jurisdiction in the matter.  Unless they want to try and change the Constitution, which won't be happening.  Each State is it's own sovereign jurisdictional entity & can create any laws it so chooses to be applicable within it's boundaries, as long as they don't contravene the Constitution.  The only powers the federal government has are those explicitly laid forth in the Constitution, everything else is each state's business.

Yes, I agree.  There should be a mandatory safety course requiring people to pass a written & practical exam to demonstrate reasonable proficiency, criminal background check & psychological well being exam.   that being said, 300 people die every day in the U.S. because doctors and nurses don't wash their hands between patients & don't maintain proper i.v. cleanliness;  300 a day....90,000 a year.  It baffles me that nobody is concerned about that statistic.

Wasnt there a article back in 2008 about a stabbing in the UK every 4 minutes? And apparently that has gone up https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42749089

I dont want to talk about it too much but bad people will do bad things. Guns are fun to have and you can have an awesome day at the range with friends. Now back to awesome shirts

Yes we have an epidemic in London which in some ways highlights the lunacies of politics, we used to stop and search, but because they said it targeted certain persons they wanted, and got it, stopped. Surprise surprise those sams MP's have now reinstated it.

The BBC is politically correct beyond a joke, I don't even watch them now, but for false news the prize must go to googlenews, pure rubbish 90% of it, still amuses the kids I suppose.

From what I understand BBC just exists to melt people's brains and basically owns the whole of the UK's media. I'm not sure because I try to stay away from them too but whenever I want to know something about whats going on across the Atlantic they are the only thing that comes up for me.

Yes unfortunately it is a government tool, or has become that, we don't have much choice, in the UK we are forced by law to buy a tv licence which funds the BBC (and lots of things we don't want such as dozens of radio programmes and websites), it is a monster out of control. But it is perfect in times of trouble to control, otherwise the threat of losing their funding is always there, any governments dream. As far as fairly unbiased news coverage we are in no mans land as most of it is controlled by some media mogul or another, we used to have a few trustworthy newspapers but these have now gone or been taken over, the best remaining is the Telegraph.

However what is worse is the BBC is trying to be trendy, a lot of the content is 'fluff' appealing to the already well catered for younger audience, more worried about celebrities than world events. There is no news programme I could recommend that is unbiased and concentrates on news items, the rubbish churned up around Brexit has proved that. For some reason in the last ten years they have also gone very left wing, no doubt it's trendy. The BBC also consider London to be England, this is by far not the case, much the same as the states the big cities are the opposite to the country as a whole. On the plus side if you're over 75 or blind it's free, generous eh., at current exchange rates it's around $200 before you can switch one on.

Overview

You must have a TV Licence if you:

  • watch or record programmes on a TV, computer or other device as they’re broadcast
  • download or watch BBC programmes on iPlayer – live, catch up or on demand

A TV Licence costs £150.50 (£50.50 for black and white TV sets) for both homes and businesses.

What’s covered

A single TV Licence covers all of the following in a single property:

  • TV sets
  • computers
  • laptops
  • tablets
  • mobile phones
  • any other device that can receive a TV signal

You don’t need a TV Licence to watch:

  • non-BBC programmes on online catch-up services
  • videos or DVDs
  • clips on websites like YouTube
  • closed circuit television (CCTV)

Find out if you need a TV Licence on the TV Licensing website.

Free and discounted TV licences

You can get a free licence if you’re 75 or older.

You can get a discounted licence if you have a severe vision impairment.

If you live in a residential care home, the person who is in charge of the home can apply for a licence for you.

Fines and penalties

You can be fined up to £1,000 if you watch or record live TV without a TV Licence.

Well that is pretty mind boggling. Is it just a one time fee? Here in the U.S. you just need a converter box to watch the most basic channels and that is never more than $40 for one.

Makes me think of this picture

Thats good to know haha. So you pay that yearly fee and then do you pay a monthly fee for a subscription to something like Directv or Comcast? Cause if thats the case I would just pay for some websites like netflix and amazon prime and watch youtube. I already pretty much do that with some news websites and only have tv because its a good deal with my internet. Still stay away from that mainstream news bullshit.
