DM2 - Should we turn "bodysearch" off? (huh?)

You know how, when you run over the top of some dead guy, it makes a noise that means you've snatched up the dead guy's stuff?  Then all that racket just gave you away, and the guy hiding around the corner - now that he's been tipped off your coming - kills you!  It's annoying since you might not have wanted the dead guy's shit anyway, but the guy's unavoidable just laying there in your way.

Turns out there's a setting for that! 

Apparently we can shut it off so it will shut up when you run over a dead guy.  

What I don't know is if that also means you don't get to collect the dead guy's shit any more, or if it just makes it stealthy to do it.  I know some of you like picking up other people's betties and junk, so that might be a bummer if you're a grim reaper.  I would imagine you could still pick up the dead guy's gun since you have always had to hit your "use" key to make that happen, whereas hoovering up their other shit happens automatically when you get close enough. 

So maybe a little good and a little bad would come out of this.  Wanna find out?  Take the poll.  If we get the votes, we'll give it a try.

Thanks for taking time to ask dj. Always better to make decisions based on input so we all know what to expect, rather than just doing it and creating confusion and a shitstorm.

If placing a betty/claymore makes noise, then so should picking it up (including your own). As for rummaging, you make noise walking to the dead body. Making the rest of it silent makes no sense. For gameplay balance, that is the risk you take. You want to try and get some free shit off a dead body. So you risk getting dead in the process. Balance and counter-balance.

no the point is if a person was killed and you run over them it makes noise picking up the equipment !but the thing is its automatic you have no choice so it makes noise!this way you have a choice?choice is good...and i voted YES

There is a much easier way. Dont run over dead bodies.

In any case, if you run over a weapon the same as yours you automatically pick up the ammo from it. That is internally game controlled and the only way around it is to simply not drop them. And since nobody knows beforehand which weapon is there, if at all, it would be unfair to penalize those that did have the same weapon and didnt have the choice.
