You can usually spot this kind of thing and often it tends to be by the same players over and over during a round. If its a populated server with only a few people doing it, its annoying but doesnt take away from the fun. But when half the server, or more, is doing it I dont even bother and go elsewhere.

Why didn't you just kick him Sammy. In theory I understand but I still can't make technical sense of how it would make them teleport around. 

 

/com_maxFPS 250  - this was decided to be fair value for FPS and running a smooth game
/cl_maxpackets 100 - all modern PCs can handle the high packet rate, this ensures you're sending all the data, that your game can send, to the server
/cg_fov 80  - with UHD and QHD monitors you should really use this 
/snaps 30 - send more bitmaps to the server

Ten years ago you needed to tinker around with undesired graphics effects to get smoother game in multiplayer and singleplayer, modern GPUs can give you 250+ without any need for turning down graphics settings. I have a GTX 1070Ti and ever since I got this, the above four are all I need to do, everything else is max.

@dadda2 when they made this game, there were many things they overlooked at the time. To run it smoother you had to do "stuff". They fixed those shortcomings one by one in later franchise releases. PunkBuster used to weed out the intentional offenders, who meant to exploit FPS, or graphics settings for seeking unfair advantage. I think what Sammy has done with resetting the graphics on each round levels the field though who mean to play unfair will have keybinds to get around it.

Something you didn't mention about com_maxfps

It can impact how the player behaves, there are many bugs in the quake engine, cod4 uses a modified version of the quake engine. Some of the bugs are still present.

com_maxfps 125  --> allows the player to jump further and higher when you strafe jump.

com_maxfps 250 --> allows the player to jump even further and higher than 125.

com_maxfps 333 --> This one should be blocked, not only does it allow you to jump to the moon, but it also makes your player make less noise as you move and take less fall damage.

As did I. Because it checked for certain modded DVARs and CVARs and it would normally kick and/or ban if you modded certain textures and crap. But I was told that it caused more trouble than it was worth because it was constantly booting alot of the players from over the pond. Probibly because PB would time out for people that have around 180 ping every time it looked for updates and crap. Which it does pretty much every time you join a server.  And it was giving our Aussie players abnormally high pings and often made them unable to join the servers.  

 

Truthfully I can't play for shit on server 1 with  Maxpackets locket at 30. The laggy mofos with 160+ pings absolutely destroy me before I can even see them. Usually it's 1 bullet from the P90 from someone that is 1/2 way across the map. I can fire 3 clips at the players that I see and I'll be lucky to get a single hit on them at range. But @ close quarters I hold my own pretty well.  MW2 Freezetag server is completely opposite. I can shoot pretty much anyone at range and usually do very well. But in close quarters (10-15 feet or less) I have fired entire P90 clips into peoples backs and not got a single hit.        

That's why I rarely play on server 1 any more.

 

On server 1 I have a steady ping of 34 with maxpackets set to 100. With it locked to 30 my ping is above 60. It sorta feels like we are being punished for living closer to the server and having a PC capable of more than 125fps. 333fps does give players that have PCs capable of that a pretty big advantage. It makes them jump higher and alot further and pretty damn hard to hit especially if they bunny hop.  

 

And people say you can't tell the difference between 60fps and 250fps. That is 100% Bull shit.  Hell, I can tell the difference between running a DVI cable and a HDMI cable to my monitor. Which isn't much but I can definitely tell the difference. It cut probably 2ms of input lag off because a monitor equipped with HDMI will natively run HDMI. It has to run through an encoder to convert it to a DVI signal.

@TheHammer you really do need to knock that shit off. Your laggy ass shit is pissing people off. I was asked to kick you more times than I can remember.

Why the hell would you want a ping double to what it normally is?  Your normal ping is normally what?  26-28?   I'm sure that everyone here would kill for a ping that low.

Hey Sammy you were spot on, without you I wouldn't have known, playing one on one on the fast acemod last night. I shot, missed, and he, I can only describe as, warped across the map, exactly as you said.

Tracers are FX only done on the client. Bullet rounds arent even physical objects in the game and there is no travel time between A and B. You have a virtual point of origin (the tip of the gun) and a direction. Run a physics trace line. Does it hit anything? Right next to you, all the way across the map, doesnt matter. There is no time component. If so then do the proper damage depending on what was hit.

Ever use the crossbow? lol  It takes a good 3,4 seconds for it to hit if you snipe someone across the map with it. It's handy for taking out snipers if you know where they are but can't quite see them with the assault rifle.
