ive done this but it was a accident and i wasnt holding thaw key i drop pred on a guy next to my frozen teammate and thawed teammate like 75 % thought it was weird lol but peeps knew about it when i said somethin

I think can probably still thaw while loitering in the pred... it's not as stable as it was before though, so much harder to hold the crosshair on a frozen teammate that it used to be.  But even so, with the older versions, if you did hit your teammate, you could get a complete thaw before you respawned.  Would be nice if it still worked that way.  I'd bomb the shit out of my frozen teammates. :)

Sammy took it away because that wasn't its intended function. Thanks  Sammy, not. Not just the predator but the Airstrike too, even the Reaper. I am pretty sure the AC130 as well but I didn't use that killstreak that much. It would be nice to have nice things.

Yea I removed the defrost part for that reason. But added the UAV in its place because defrosting from the air was a good idea and to compliment the sentry. And.... you have a great many nice things. Enjoy them.

Just need to find a polling method where you know everyone only gets one vote, it looks like discord accomplishes this as that is what the insurgency admins used I believe and you can see who has voted. Not everyone has discord though, maybe someone knows of something similar that could be used?

If everyone had the same configs, it would make it a lot more of a fair game yes, but players that like to spend money on there systems spend the money for a much better performance, FunkyChickn>XI< has a much better PC than me it was easier to play on his. Its a hard one to debate about especially if a player can see a lot further than other players but that may just be he/she has a really high end performance gaming pc, but I do see the problem.

There are only a handful of buttons that register press/hold/release. Fire, ads, use (freezetag/plant-disfuse/pickup,nades, melee). And all of those are also being used for functions of course. SP works with a lot more. Also consoles but they are all disabled in PC multiplayer. Kinda sucks since it would make things much easier. The ones for streaks etc only register presses, not hold or release.

Wrote up a quick test script, for home testing, for a bigger EMP defrost. Yes, currently it is smaller than the 'blast' size and requires accuracy. The balance is that there was no distance check for a timer nor obstruction checks and it would be a full defrost always. Make an accurate throw and you are done.

The alt version, which I have to test out later, will be distance based and function similar to regular grenades or a flashbang. Twice the radius but the defrost timer is based on distance. Also it will check for obstructions. If you cant see the flare, or the flare cant 'see' you (same thing but matter of perspective), then you arent defrosted.

Which version is 'better' is a matter of opinion as always. And it will have to be a setting that applies to everyone.

I see the forum has inbuilt voting software that has been used recently to good effect :

I like the mod the way its been. More players in a game means more chaos and more chaos is more fun for me.

 

The only changes I would like to see:

  • make it so the tactical nuke can't be carried to a different round
    • either auto-win round for that players team with nuke going off once streak is hit
    • or make it "use it or lose it" for the current round, though that could be upsetting if you're last alive and die after getting it
  • have emp nades do an initial percentage burst of defrost (like 20%) before then doing the rest of the amount like usual
    • maybe have this initial blast only area slightly larger than the normal range

Yea it would be problematic for you to win a nuke and being shot for your troubles the instant afterwards. Then you are screwed if you arent defrosted before the round ends. Or another possibility is you win one by shooting the last player alive on the enemy team.  Also, lets say you win one and there are only two people left on the enemy team. Kind of a waste to use a tac nuke on two enemies. As it is, if you are one short of a tac nuke and the round ends then you are back to square one anyways.

For defrost nades, testing out making one work on par with distance based flashbang effects. Same range as one and also visibility checks. How much you are defrosted depends on range and also how much the heat flare can 'see' you. Same method used by frags for example to calculate damage.

There will be no voting on this subject, everyone who plays the mod doesn't come to the site often enough to make the vote fair. 

I'm not gonna send out a mass pm to everyone every time we wanna make a change to the mod, we would hit our email limit 

I sent out the one pm to every one telling them about the new mod coming out and we are making changes to it, told them to come tell us what they like and don't like or wanna see added. We will take all the feedback from that and try to come up with the best mod possible for the community, not just a few people.

There will be no vote, but we love to hear your opinions on the mod, good or bad. Like I said we're taking all the feedback we are getting from this post and in game and trying to find a happy medium for everyone, not just a select few.

Also wanna add, once the new mod comes out there will be another post about what you needs to be tweaked. I pray the mod will be perfect the first time out but that never happens, so we will be tweaking the new mod settings also after its out, you can only do so much testing with bots,  the real testing comes when its in a live game environment.

Seems like the SC-2010 load out has a GUI bug - like your left arm/shoulder or something is showing up on the lower left hand side of the screen... keeps making me think someone is standing there or spawning next to me.

The Steyr-Aug iron sights are way off - if you put the top of the front post on your target you will miss high. By a lot.

If we're going to have special load outs for some weapons (MP5, etc.) - can we just have them for all weapons?  (Except where it might cause balance issues.)
