I got summoned for Jury duty today, but I no longer live in the county I was summoned for. Therefore, I am not eligible, but I still had to go online and fill out a questionnaire. They spelled my last name wrong, so I updated that, and I also had to update my new address. I fucked up because I was tired and changed everything but the zip code. I left a voicemail and sent an e-mail to see if I could somehow update it but then I saw on a FAQs page that you can't change anything once you submit it. I am hoping that only means I don't have permission to change things. I am hoping someone in the county office who responds to my voicemail/e-mail can fix it for me. I was just curious if anyone else has done this by mistake and can give me any advice. I don't need a warrant for my arrest for contempt of court or whatever.

I dont think I have ever heard of anyone getting a contempt of court or whatever. So many people simply ignore them that if they did go after people they would be swamped.

Hey, you still have time to hoist your Union Jack flag-sail and make way for the Panama Canal!

I'll pick you up in San Francisco Harbor.

They'll probably catch you before you get here, however:  all they have to do is follow the trail of empty beer cans.

Lol.

You my friend are a mind reader, I read about this nitrous stuff making cars go faster, but couldn't find where to get it until someone mentioned it was also known as ' laughing gas'. Eureka, I remember farting competions at school where we rolled round laughing, so that was it eh?

I have been carefully eating selected curries, baked beans etc etc for a week and think I'm ready to try it, will keep you up to date buddy.

In the last 30 years I have been  summoned to Jury Duty 10 freaking times FFS!!!!

It's every 3 years! Each  and every time they let me go home due to the fact I'm Self Employed and they won't reimburse me for the lost $.

I always tell them to find some Union Worker instead...

Total waste of my time....

Not sure about your state, but I'm imbedded in the criminal justice system in Maryland. My opinion is that you made every reasonable effort to respond to the subpoena and to report address changes, etc.. Therefore, you shouldn't have to worry about warrants for failing to comply for jury duty. The WORST thing they could do is summon you before a judge to "show cause" for failing to comply with the original subpoena for jury duty, in which case you can provide proof that you moved out of that county and are no longer eligible to serve in that court's jurisdiction. IF the worst case scenario happens -- which I highly doubt under the color of the Constitution and state law -- contact the county state's attorney's office that is holding the case and a private attorney to release you from jury duty. Just my two cents.

Crisis averted. Someone responded to my e-mail, updated my Zip Code and excused me from the jury duty.

Don't get your hackles up in your kilters; don't get your panties in a bind, it's a term of endearment, unlike @Unchileno.

Frickin' East Coast, buddy, was really impressed with your post . . .

Until I saw that you misspelled "embedded."

My buddy, @Hoth, and the guy that spec'd me on the best server (COD4 FT1) and said "Ayaq's a Beast!," and is our resident spelling and grammatical-correction expert, would agree.

(In Yoda voice) "Hmm?"

Lol.

Rest was awesome, though, and message was not lost.

I have had a similar experience when dealing with a mobile phone/broadband company called "3".  They imposed paperless billing on us years ago so we don't have pieces of paper with our phone number hanging around the house.  There was an "all you can use" mobile data offer that only cost £5 more than my monthly 3GB so I thought I'd have some of that.  Only problem is that 3 don't have my current address and one has to enter a postcode to identify oneself.  I asked them if they wanted the one I hadn't been at for five years or the one they know nothing about...  I think it'd be easier to shut my account!
