Thank you guys! American, Australian, Canadian, British, Polish, French and others brave soldiers who came and fight on the beaches of Normandy to free us 75 years ago.

Also a thought for German soldiers (my father being German) engaged despite themselves in this war provoked by the Nazi madness.

Yes all men on both sides fought bravely, God rest them all, I laughed at President Macrons speech in Portsmouth which was entirely in French, none of us understood it, but I'm sure towards the end he said 'make sure that @FRENCHI milks the cows' - merde !

Lol! President Macron speaks English well enough (as far as I can judge ;-)) but he did it in French to annoy Donald and Theresa

Anyway, I agree with you, he should at least have to say some sentences in English.

My grandfather landed on Omaha on D-Day. He was in the 1st. Division, 16th Infantry, L Company. About 1/4 of his company made it to the beach. Of that, only about 30 men made it to the top to capture WN 60 at the top of what is called the F-1 draw. His Lieutenant earned the Congressional Medal of Honor (posthumously). One of only two awarded that day. I was fortunate to able able to visit the exact spot and the gun emplacement where he fought. here is what it looks like today. https://www.normandywarguide.com/place/wn60-widerstandsneste-60

Thanks for your post, buddy.

If you haven't seen "Saving Private Ryan," I would highly recommend watching it.  Director Spielberg did an awesome job.

However, the only thing I "hate" about the movie is Opheim--or however you spell the cowardly-bastard's name.

And the way he acts like a hero at the end.  Only part of the movie I don't like.

Anyway, thanks again, sir.

Ayaq
