So I've built my new computer and I need to move my profile in COD WAW from my old win7 rig to the new win10 one.  I thought just copying all the files in the cod5 directory would work but it did not.  Any body out there have another idea?

Yeah, I had that too. There is a program that can do it, but never worked for me.

In the end, I grabbed my DVD and re-installed it. With the profiles there in place ( docs folder or ProgramData?).
Once done, I copied the old COD5 files over that folder and, done. No patch issues and still running fine.

Btw, not sure if I had my REG key loaded in my register of Windows. But with the installation and going online, it might ask you the "codkey"="YOURKEY" and or type it in. I went online straight away after re-install from DVD and overwrite the files.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I forgot to mention my new pc had no optical drive so I bought the steam version of the game.  The original win 7 game files were from a cd install.

No need, there is a quicker way to transfer your profile, I have shown how at least three times somewhere, lying in bed at the moment but I'll dig it out, think last time was to papithegun? You need to view hidden files first, back later

Well it’s still not showing up in the profile selection screen.  When I type the original name to create a new profile it says that name is not available.  Maybe it’s because the original files came from a cd copy install and now I’m using a steam copy.

From what I understand, you still have your old COD WAW data right? On a drive? Plus you have a Steam version?
Steams versions are most likely update and does that work for you?

If so, install the Steam version and copy all old data or explain what you have or not. I had that name issues or profile name not accepted by the game/auth network too. Just give me/us a little more information. There is also a WAW profile program, but waste of time. I have spend a lot of hours to fix this. Also, do you have the KEY of the game or from your old one of that DVD box? I might just upload my ISO for you. But your old data must be still at one of your drives.

I still have my old data on my old computer that works fine.  I still have the original box and cd with key. Problem is that I don’t have optical drives on the new pc. So I bought and installed steam version.  I have copied all my mods/profile files over to the new pc but my name won’t show in the profile selection. Also when I type in the name it says name not available

looks like it links the keys with owners and therefore rightly sees the first cd as owning that name? Why don't you just buy a cd drive and load original then copy old profile etc, easiest way.

That's not the issue Rob. But thank you for trying to help too.

Optical drives are 5 bucks second handed. But, you don't need an optical drive when you load in an ISO. Overall question is, does your Steam version work?

Just plug in your old optical Drive fdkm your previous PC, or has it bombed out?  I would assume that the game links your profile name with the game ID, and hence not not being able go use your name.  If you still have the original CD key you can start the game,  go to options.  Select "multi-player options,  from there you can change the cd key.  "enter key code" Hope this helps

Yeah, you find that in the Register of Windows. I can not remember asking me for the key though. It might be attached to your account.

How to check register:

1) In Run: regedit
2) Minimize everything on the left panel.
3) Search in Register by: CTRL F and type in : Call of Duty and let it search.

4) Once found, right click that part on the left panel and choose Export and save it like on a USB drive.

5) Your new PC, just double click and it will be imported.

Belarc Advisor is free software that can show you your software registration keys.  But not sure though how it will show for games installed thru steam.

I don't really want to run it thru steam, so that won't matter. I really just want to move everything over to the new pc that I have on this older one.
