On steam version, dose anyone know what file location or pathway to extract map packs to try a to. Tried 2 suggestions and didn't seem to work. Still freezing when switching maps. I appreciate all the help that's been given. Damn I wish that downloader worked.

the downloader only works for the free standing game..Steam is different....bear with me, I will try and find a way for it to work..not the downloader...just where map location is . also what OS are you running?

I would check to see if the folder has any of our maps in it first, then you can download the map packs,

No, those are the names of the stock game files found in the games "main" folder.  Custom maps will be the map by name and are located in your user folder. ie. C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps

As Merlin said above, it'll be in here C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps

You have to display hidden files in windows to get there.

New to this so bear with me here. This is what I see now. But now maps are now in each folder is this right. Or should I create a usermap folder and extract there? What steps do I take to now extract each folder Using 7zip?

I cannot even download a map from the game to see where the hell it is. It just plain won't let me. The last thing I see is { http;//redirect.xtremeidiots.net/redirect/cod5/mods/ace/mod.ff } is the part it just plain freezes. when switching maps. I can enter a game though.

Now each folder you see has maps in them but do you have to extract each folder to get maps to work? Cause this is where I get stumped. I don't see an option to do that on 7zip or am I missing something?

I had the Disc to this game gathering dust for years. I tossed it with a bunch of other games on disc. Just used Steam. Auto updates and it a no brainer and cheap. Never had an issue for years till the recent rebuild . I just ordered WaW on amazon just for the hell of it. Maybe this will resolve the problem. Makes no sense. Also you can verify all files for the game is intact. No errors.

from mp_13_townville down is right, it just needs to be in the path explained above.  They don't go in the path you have displayed.
