Thanks Sixgun!!  I totally agree and I appreciate your level head.   Just some helpful, reliable information for all my friends here in the clan.

NO FEAR, NO PANIC – just awareness and concern.

Be SMART, Be WELL!!  If you want to skip my rant, just watch this Dr. from the UK - he's quite reliable.

I've been following this very closely from the beginning as I have trusted sources, one of whom has professional expertise in training citizens in other countries less fortunate how to protect themselves from things like this.  As such, his US military background with Infectious Diseases is solid.  He, as do I, have a network of folks all over the globe that we've been communicating with  since mid-January and based on the scientific data thus far, we must realize this is NOT the flu.  Is is far more virulent and one person can easily and unknowingly infect many others, while not have any symptoms prior to being aware they have it.

While the elderly and infirm are at much greater risk, our hospital bed ratio is embarrassingly low in the US..  If this virus is not slowed down, our medical systems will be overrun and it will be a very hard situation, much like Italy.  I spoke with an Italian friend today and it's very dicey over there....healthcare workers are tired, and many are infected but are required to continue working - no longer a contained situation.  Hard decisions of who gets treated and who does not are starting to happen because they're starting to become overwhelmed with patients.

Regardless of the country, any estimates of those infected or deaths are very low.  The actual numbers are 10 to 20 times higher because of unrecognized community spread.

Stay well by practicing excellent hygiene, dramatically limit going out in public and maintain a good distance from others if possible, and always follow the advice of your healthcare providers if you become infected.

We all need to remain vigilant with these good practices to PROTECT THE VULNERABLE.

No, we're not all going to die - that's ridiculous.  We do however NEED TO SLOW THIS DOWN SO OUR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM CAN TAKE CARE OF THOSE ALREADY IN NEED OF UNRELATED MEDICAL ISSUES AS WELL AS NEW PATIENTS RESULTING FROM THIS VIRUS.

Many will get this damned virus (similar experience to the flu) and feel pretty bad - about 5 days of mild viral illness (cough, fever, myalgia, achey muscles, fatigue).  The vast majority of people of who contract this will get better, not super fast - but will get better.  About 12% of those who get this will become severely ill, and about 5% of those who get this will become critically ill.

Some who recover will have lung damage.  This is being reported in China - their ahead of us on the virus' timeline.

Remember, just because someone can handle this virus and not get very sick, doesn't mean they're not going to fuck up their neighbors, friends, or family whose immune systems are not as strong.  Don't be the person that goes around their city as if nothing is really serious is happening.

We're about four to six weeks behind the situation in Italy.  If my sources, both private and public are wrong and this is a big nothing burger, I'll gladly receive any shit people wanna sling at me for a "Chicken Little" event.

Now go wash your fucking hands people LOL!!

My Nursing home that I work at has prohibited visitors. Absolutely no one and we have isolated people to their rooms. So sad. But it's the elderly that suffer more from this so glad we are using precautions like this.

I suppose a good question is, would you rather have a six pack of TP or a six pack of good beer?
