I used to be by CD, i still have it but for some reason my CD roms are not behaving properly so I am forced to use steam and had to pay MORE money for the game sadly. To buy a cd rom now it is only $15. The majority of torrents do not have viruses and spyware attached to them as the websites that host them test all the torrents before they are posted. Actually two. First one for the Mac and the next one later on for PC. Buying via Steam... or one of its competitors... has its benefits and drawbacks. Strictly speaking, nobody has ever owned a game. Just a license. Even all those free Linux games are under license. You can do whatever you want, with limitations and/or requirements, but dont own them. At best, you own a piece of plastic. Of course with Steam you dont even own the plastic. So if you did lose that piece of plastic, but kept the license, you could borrow another piece of plastic from a friend and reinstall the game.
