Would appreciate any input on recommendations for a good quality, & economical  priced, 2.5 jack or USB  microphone.

I am currently using a Logitech base mounted microphone that cost me $30. back in 09. Intermittently having issues of not being heard when playing COD WAW.

Go to the dollar store pick one up. You will be surprised. You can test your system making sure it’s the mic and then you can keep it as a spare  after you upgrade.

I picked me up a cheap boom mic at Amazon that seems to do the trick for me.  It comes with a one sided ear piece which I don't use (I use my pc speaker system).. I only use it for the mic.

Maybe try going on teamspeak,

click on tools at the top
click on options
click on capture
click on begin test
talk into your mic and see if you hear yourself

Check your volume in game.

It could also just be a volume issue, does your mic have a volume control? If so make sure it is on.

Do you have a sound card? If so check to see if the boost is enabled.

Also check the speaker icon on your desktop next to the date and see if it is turned up.

I was playing late one night and this dude came on my teamspeak. His mic failed so the only store open near his house was a dollar store. He picked up a mic for a dolla to do him till the next day. I had no idea his mic broke I just thought he was the silent type lol He got back and told all of us what happened and I said your using a dolla mic right now and he said yeah. I said well your clear as can be. He used that mic for over 5 years.

So true! I went into the Future Shop(now the Best Buy. They had all these $20-30 mics. Made in China as with everything these days. The exact same mics were in the dollar store $1 just a different package. The mic I used for several years the sound was great.

That's what tics me off about corporations. Sell the jobs to China NEVER LOWER THE PRICES REAP IN MEGA PROFIT.

Thank You for all the recommendations. I wasn't aware the Dollar Store sell Mic's. That's a new one for me. I have a headset with a boom mic but I can't stand the headphones over my ears for a long period of time. Plus I prefer my speakers, I can tell better which direction sounds are coming from.  I though of using a singe ear piece as E-raser suggested. E-raser did you remove the ear piece, or do you just wear it behind your ear?

I still put the one ear piece over my ear, but it is so soft and light fitting that I can still hear outside sounds (my pc speaker system) through the one earpiece side.  There is no ear piece on the other side(one sided).  Because the boom mic is right next to my mouth it does a good job of picking up my voice without the game sounds from my pc speaker system.
