Where it says Mods At the bottom of the menu then it shows a list in a box but mine is empty. It’s got launch at the bottom. Should that not list the mods I have in my folder.

Yes there should be mods listed in it ???

Thinking about it there appears to be something stopping it loading and showing, ad blocker, anti virus etc etc try switching all protection off and starting again, see if that works

Gotcha ya.

So, a mod in that list only shows if the mod name is preceded with mp_ which most of ours do not so you can't go here to launch the mod.  Just enter our server normally and the mod will or should launch automatically.

So its not that then, every time I launch a DM map or any other map that didnt come with the game it crashes to the desk top while the game is still on, I have to sign out and back in again to close the game. As you can see I have the mods in the folder.

And you have the maps already in your usermaps folder or are you downloading each map?

Maybe I missed it thru all this but when it crashes to your desktop, do you get an error message or just plain crashes and freezes?

I have all the maps downloaded. It’s nearly always jumped to desktop then into the map to be honest don’t know if that’s normal but it always works until it didn’t. I’ve uninstalled my AV still same.

Do you run hlsw by any chance on the same PC?  If you do, don't. I find that causes me issues like minimizes to desktop or flicker when map changes.

Have you recently installed the latest windows update? If you have, that may be an issue.  I'm just in the middle of reinstalling windows cause the update broke stuff.

Thats normal to a lot of people. Games do it since day 1. Crashing when it has to exit the game to download a map is also normal to most players. This happening to many people all at once is rare. It is however very annoying to figure out. I would try  look at what compatibility setting you have your game running on and switch it. So if your using xp service pack 2 try windows 7. or visa versa.

I do not run WaW with any compatability settings just run as admin, that's on W10 may 2020 update. No problems. Try doing as Labob said.

Well guys finally cracked it. I uninstalled the driver and used windows driver then the game crashed differently so thought may be the graphics driver even though I had the latest. So updated again changed it win 7 compatibility mode (that I've used before) but the thing I've never clicked on is the 'disable full-screen optimisation' and hey presto. I'm sure i've never had that checked in the past and I don't know why the game started to crash and lock up my computer. But stable so far.

Thank you everyone for your help really appreciate it.

Microsoft has been slowly rolling out updates to the Windows Desktop Manager for full screen optimizations. Thy wanted to do it gradually to avoid any performance issues. More than likely a recent Windows update probably made a change to the WDM that did not work well with your driver. Because of these gradual updates it is important to keep your graphics drivers updated. Glad you got it fixed.

Hi, I too started having this same issue about a month ago.  Brand new computer less than a year old. (well in computer standards actually ancient now-lol).  Anybody figure our a fix prior to late June when it just started crashing to the desktop like Marskeman I had no issues.

The Mod folder that is separate from your profile contains the Mod itself. The Mod folder that's in your profile folder contains your Rank, weapons, inventory and settings for the Mod. If you want to delete the Mod and redownload, do not delete the one in your profile and you won't lose the settings for that Mod.
