$2000 "FREE"??? Nothing is free. I work in an "essential" industry and cant fill positions because  people don't want to work, not because they are scared of Covid, but because they are receiving this so called "FREE" money. Let the world economy collapse and you will see a lot worse than this pandemic.

The Canadian gov't shut down all businesses when Covid hit. This meant all workers were laid off and people had no money for food/ rent/bills etc. So the gov't took over the unemployment agengy giving every single worker $2000 free per month (same as unemployment would have) to enable these people their needs till they can get back to work. The gov't also helped businesses financially so they would not close down.

Yes i understand that. Same thing here. My point was this is not "FREE" money. We tax paying citizens pay for this FREE money. And we tax paying citizens will be paying more tax in the upcoming years to cover it. Many folks may need the handout, i was referring to the folks who are offered employment and refuse because they are getting more "FREE" money by not working.

Canada has some pretty geography.  But come on, nothing beats Cedar Point and Kings Island as far as Coasters !!  And they are both in my home state.  I was at Kings Island when Evil Knievel jumped the Greyhound Buss's !!  Yes Im that old.  Now the $2,000 you Canadians get each month doesn't make me jealous.   Thats one days pay for us. ?   Now bragging your husband drives stoned all the time is crazy.  Doesn't Canada have a DUI ?  First time he kills someone driving stoned, well, that would be sad indeed.  And yes I party at times,  I grew up in the late 60's and 70's.   And I grew up in farm country, so weed was always growing somewhere ?   But I never drive under the influence.

With the $2000,  those who do not go back to work when the business they work at is allowed to open then they have to pay back every cent they received. Also at tax time you will be taxed on each $2000 you received. Tax payers do not pay any of it. Unemployment is not paid by tax payers. It comes off the pay cheques of every worker. If they get laid off they receive a money they put in through their pay cheques.

My favorite ride is a roller coaster. The only coaster I have been on in the US was bush gardens in Florida. I remember Evil Knievel. I seen a few of his jumps on TV. I am probably older than you lol I was not bragging about my husband I just mentioned it. Yes, Canada has DUI. He just retired a year ago.

I'm sure it will be even higher due to covid.

I am not gonna respond more but fuck sake this topic has gone from covid to how good country's are.

That should put the nail in the coffin

Due to the debt crisis the Canadian government can no longer afford nails, instead they are using one grab adhesive, hence the saying ' Give him some stick'. This brings the subject nicely back to covid which is a very serious thing and not to be sniffed at, off to boobs and bums now to do more research on the topic, surely it can't be hard ?

Yes but the winters are terrible, Tasmania has a devil of a lot going for it ? but we need to have a revolution to break away from the oppressive Aussie rule. I am taking donations, in points, to arm the people of Tasmania, to rise up and break free from their cruel overlords high on vegemite.

This post may have started on covid but it has inspired me and the 'Tassies' to seek a better future after the crisis has settled.

So yesterday in game some were discussing that conspiracy theory that folks are not all really dying of COVID, that it is made up numbers something about hospitals wanting to get covid money funds blah blah blah, maybe political reasons hyped up numbers of deaths, whatever misinformation/propaganda they believe and are trying to spread.  I read this post from a covid survivor, she is in her 30's, perfect health, no reasons why covid should be so horrible for her, here is her 6 month story of survival.  One thing I will point out is the lack of compassion and care for others astounds me actually.  If only we treated this like they did in Japan from day one, they have only had apparently around 1,000 deaths, meanwhile we have over 225,000 and we are to expect loads more deaths as the fall and winter and denials continues one.  2 cents  :hi:

So I might just delete this post.
Anyways, here goes.
Today is my six month anniversary of coming down with Covid. I’ve been dealing with the repercussions for SIX MONTHS.
I didn’t want to share on Facebook before, but I have shared privately with friends. Today I decided I was tired of hiding and hoping my story will be a warning to others.
In the past six months:
I landed in the hospital because my chest pain was so bad that it required iV pain killers and my fever required iv fluids.
I’ve had pneumonia twice. My lung capacity has been reduced because of lung fibrosis (damage)
I’ve had pleurisy
I’ve had inflammation of the cartlidge in my rib cage
I’ve had so much brain fog. I haven’t thought straight for 6 months. I constantly have to go back and do things twice.
I can’t drink alcohol because my liver is inflamed and the alcohol makes me feel bad now.
I have had chest pain and shortness of breath every single day.
I can only walk for exercise. Anything more and I cannot breathe normally. Before March 16 I used to do spin classes 3/week.
My resting heart rate is 101. It used to be 55.
Fast forward to today. I just left the cardiologist because I’m going to have to have two different echocardiograms and a MRI to determine the severity of my heart damage.
Covid is scary. Covid can cause an inflammatory response that doesn’t land you on a vent but can be life changing. I would be characterized as having a “mild to moderate” case of coronavirus.
My cardiologist is hopeful but doesn’t know what to do about me. It’s not in my head he says! I’m his tenth patient in September who has come to him with these long term symptoms. Average stats of “long haulers” as we are called is 44 (me!) a woman (me!) and previously fit/healthy and no preexisting conditions (me!)
I go on with daily life, baking bread, helping the kids, wiping down counters bc that’s what you do. You can’t lay in bed forever. Doctor tells me I’m full of antibodies (I hope I still am) and I’m not contagious. I have to live the life I’m dealing with now.
Anyways I share not to get any sympathy. I share because I feel people are getting fatigued of hearing about Covid and have moved on. I get it. It’s exhausting. But I want people to still continue to take this monster seriously.
Here’s a picture of the heart monitor I have to wear now. Stay healthy. ❤️
(Edited to add: feel free to share. The support shown below has made it clear that it may be helpful for someone else not on my fb page)
Edited to add (9/19). The response to this has been amazing. Honestly I thought 50 people would like this post. I’m getting messages from all over the planet and so many people are getting the message. Thank you so much
Editing one last time (10/28) THANK YOU so much to every single one of you who have reached out to me via PM. I’m so sorry I can’t respond to everyone but it means so much that you took the time to do so. ❤️

Great story! We would be in a much better place if we had my empathy. I couldn’t agree more. 🙂
