You're so lucky to have that much land; I still have to use almost all of my backyard for my children (pool, playground, trempoline, space to run and play bubble soccer and our chickencoop ), so I only go for a couple tomatoe plans, but a big rack of fresh herbs ! My strawberry and blueberry plants are pretty much dried out this year with all this heat and no rain... but there's always next year 24oz, WeednFeed, SparksHunter and 1 other 3
 Well done, man. What varieties of tomatoes are you growing? Thanks my ground is quite acidic. That's why the potatoes do alright. The tomatoes are Early Girl, Sweet millions, Scotian's and another I can't remember the name right now. I have such a short growing season I have a hard time ripening the tomatoes on the vine. The Scotian's are VERY flavorful and are suited to this area. the others I just pick up what the big box stores bring in. The bedding plant marketing board shut down all the small mom and pop places I used to buy my bedding plants from. You know PRICE FIXING! I plan on having the soil tested this year to better understand the what I will require going forward. I'm sure I'll have to lime this fall. I will be amending the soil with leaves and manure as well. GhostfaceJim and Timmah!
 Awards

Try those next growing season. They're rich & tasty. They're also heirloom tomatoes, which means you can save the seeds and plant them next year. Start them indoors & use a wall of water & or covering to harden them off.... alternatively, just buy them already-grown again. They're that good when it's a good year. Strangely, I can control for all variables of which I'm aware & still will have some great, some good, & some not so good years for a given variety. Treating your soil with a beneficial fungus is also worthwhile. They grow in the soil & around the roots of the plants, protecting them & also helping them absorb nutrients that otherwise wouldn't be available: https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS908US908&sxsrf=ALeKk00Hy-qxnJxsS6SjO2YH_a-Z5JWU5A%3A1595877142548&ei=FicfX62EIYG0tQahuamADQ&q=beneficial+mycorrhizal+fungi&oq=beneficial+myc&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQARgBMgIIADICCAAyBggAEBYQHjIGCAAQFhAeMgYIABAWEB4yBggAEBYQHjIGCAAQFhAeMgYIABAWEB4yBggAEBYQHjIGCAAQFhAeOgQIABBHOgQIIxAnOgUILhCRAjoFCAAQkQI6CwguELEDEMcBEKMCOggILhDHARCjAjoECAAQQzoFCC4QsQM6AgguOgoIABCRAhBGEPkBOgQILhBDOgYIABAKEEM6CAguELEDEIMBOgUIABCxAzoHCC4QsQMQQzoKCAAQsQMQFBCHAjoMCAAQFBCHAhBGEPkBOgQIABAKOgcIABAUEIcCOggILhDHARCvAVCBqAFYlMcBYPrkAWgBcAJ4AIABmwGIAfsMkgEENC4xMZgBAKABAaoBB2d3cy13aXrAAQE&sclient=psy-ab Edited July 27, 2020 by Timmah! I was reading do not over water and when the temp goes over 85f they are slow to ripen. Also you can prune them to get rid of some of the leaves to let air and sun at them to ripen.
