My new video card is getting hot and is not big enough for what I want to do. My system uses DDR4 and this technology has left me in the dust. What I have now is a GTX650 with 1.5 gb memory. Please remember I am not well to do so make sure it is one I can save for and then get it.

Okay but does it matter if my system uses ddr4 and there isn't any vc here like that? I looked via Amazon as well and I found ddr3 and ddr5 &6 but not ddr4 I guess the correct number would be GDDR4.

My memory for this sort of thing is bad.

The type of video memory does not have to match your type of system memory, obviously the faster the better and the more bandwidth the better.

This is most likely just the bios version.  Go here and grab Belarc Advisor https://www.belarc.com/products_belarc_advisor

Install and run it and it will tell you all kinds of stuff about your system.

But the most important info we need is what games and rez do you want to play them at, ie 1080p or 1440.  Also do you do any video editing or conversion.

The GTX 1660 Super is a great budget card and runs about $230-$240 or so.

One other thing which you need to know is what size power supply do you have and does it have the correct PCI-E connectors for the new card that you get.  Most of the new cards these days will tell you the minimum PS size you need and the number and type of connectors that you need.

I would wait until the 3000 series cards come out if your looking at sub $300 cards. The RTX 3060 is supposed to be $299 and faster than a 1080ti and faster than a $550 2060 Super but use less power. Prices on the 1000 and 2000 series cards is going to be alot cheaper. If you can wait until Black Friday which is November 27 this year you will probably be able to get a GTX 1070ti or RTX 2060 Super for under $300.

Here is the best card that you can get for $300. It's not the "Super" version which is faster than the non Super version of the RTX 2070 but it's still pretty damn good card for the money.

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-rtx-2060-06g-p4-2066-kr/p/N82E16814487488

The GTX 1660 Super isn't a bad card but for the price and only being 4-6% better than my card on some games? No Thank You!

The RX 580 is the newer 8gb version of the RX 480 card that I am running. I have a RX480 4gb card. It has a single 8 pin PCIe power connector and it runs just fine with my old 650 watt power supply.  I have an almost 10 year old Modular Corsair COMPUSAX650W 650w power supply that CompUSA used to sell before they closed in 2012.

RX480 and RX580 is faster than the base model GTX 1070 and almost as fast as the GTX 1660 Super which is pretty much a re-badged GTX 1070 Ti performance wise. It's a hell of a card for the money. $179.99 - $20 mail in rebate so $169.99 new with 3 year warranty.  https://www.newegg.com/msi-radeon-rx-580-rx-580-armor-8g-oc/p/N82E16814137118

90-110fps+/- in COD Warzone on all high settings with Motion blur off,FOV cranked, and view distance cranked. It's playable on Max settings but I've seen dips as low as 32fps while in an intense firefight with lots of smoke and crap. It sits rite on 64fps on max settings until you actually start running around.   In COD4 MW2 freezetag mod I get 250+ fps with dips as low as 220/230 fps on certain maps on all max settings. I bought mine used off of ebay for $90 with free shipping.

You can find them a little cheaper if you look for a slightly used one on Ebay but I would rather have 1 with a Warranty.

You will have absolutely No driver issues with that card unless you try to run the Beta drivers. Never ever run AMDs beta or "Optional" drivers lol.

No it does not matter.

The ones I gave you links from new egg are cheaper than what is available on amazon.

I would recommend this one for $159.99:

Dean

is this a brand name computer if so does case have any sticker with model/serial# on it or go in bios sys info,  if home built need to open case and look between PCI-e slots or CPU to PCI-e slot ...is written on MB also look for Rev.x.xx written on MB if any thing over Rev1.0  need to get those drivers that match Rev# of MB.

let us know what you find

Note if too  old not worth miss match  hardware

really what issue you having now with graphics (meaning what game won't play)

gtx650 supports PCI Express 3.0 if get new GPU your in same boat if MB not have PCI Express 3.0

if GPU is overheating now  have someone who knows to reT.I.M. your GPU

That slot should accommodate a 1060.  Not sure if there are different power cable requirements.

I have one last part coming today to finish my new build (power supply).  Assuming when I put the power button tonight it turns on and all works okay, I will be able to put the old card in the mail tomorrow at the earliest - so PM me your address.

to see what you have, you can use this[all freeware]

https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

or similar but will show temps[ hates windows 10 gives false temp readings, unless they fixed it]

https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy

only thing you prob will have to buy  is a new power supply as the 1060 has a 6 pin power conector[ your old one runs off pcie lane power] as someone already mentioned
