Lot of poeple who got the Covid help money called CERB(canadian emergency response benefit)  will have a surprise  when doing thier tax reports.

This benefit is added to your 2020 earnings . and they gonna have to pay around 30 to 40 % of ncome taxes on it.

Hope they didint spent it all...¸OOOUUUCCCHHH

We told people to save some of it because it's taxable and if you received it and your weren't entitled you have to pay it all back.

Yup..that $2000 per month came in handy. We were told at the very beginning to save some to pay taxes. It saved a lot of people and families. But anyone not stupid enough to put some aside must not have been paying attention. There is no such thing as free money. But they really didn't HAVE to give us anything at all. So I really appreciated it

People don't have to repay it but they will have to pay tax on it.  They changed their stance since the rules were not very clear.  I know people who got several thousand and get to keep it, just have to pay tax on it.  It's not right but that seems the way that it's going.

Don`t agree my wife does income tax and if you collected you pay tax on it. Now if you collected it and made more than what was aloud in that time frame you will have to pay it back.

Yes you pay tax on it but the eligibility by way of income which was meant to be your net is waived for those who used their gross so do agree some may get stung.  Plus they deferring interest penalty till 2022.  It really is a mess so hopefully those who collected kept a buffer but will see how it all unfolds as the new tax season progresses.

I hate to say this Krunch..you are soo wrong. I would have lost everything including my house without this money. It is not rocket science. We were told we would be taxed on the earnings from the very beginning. If people listened and put some aside then there should be no problems at all.  Shouldn't have to worry about the interest rates.  Everybody is always ragging on the government that they didn't give us enough. Some countries got nothing, at all ,at the beginning of this. People did lose everything I have two friends who couldn't handle it and committed suicide. I am not a fan of politics but I ,for one, do appreciate them helping right at the start of all this.
