ASRock Packs AMD's Ryzen 5000 CPU Into a 1U Short Depth Server | Tom's Hardware

Quote

While the X570D4I-2T motherboard has a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for graphics cards, the 1U2-X570/2T machine cannot accommodate any add-in cards since this is a short depth machine.

Toms Hardware  full of shit saying  supports PCIe 4  slot and on AsRock site no mention of it in spec's

PCie gen 4 is available only when paired with 1 of the 3 high end Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. It's PCie gen 3 if used with a Ryzen 3000 series CPU. You must use a 5800X 5900X or a 5950X in it if you intend on using Gen 4.

You are better off buying a much higher quality Mini itx motherboard and put it in a U1 rack. This U1 case is kinda insane. You can put 2 Mini Itx motherboards in it and it has 2 300w power supplies pre installed.  https://www.newegg.ca/black-athena-power-rm-1u100dd308/p/N82E16811192333

Imagine putting 2 of these bad boys in it. https://www.newegg.ca/asus-rog-strix-x570-i-gaming/p/N82E16813119209

Would be a lightning fast file server if you used a PCie gen 4 riser hooked to something like a 16x PCIe 4.0 to 8 slot NVMe PCIe 4.0 Raid card. From what I've read the Riser cables are very hit and miss yet. Meaning it might work for 1 motherboard but not all motherboards.

May I suggest removing the cover plate to a different location than the bottom half of the case and motherboard before dremeling a hole for the video card in the lid.
