When those who receive it become the majority, this is what results. There is only one way to fix this. By force if necessary, change the government. Happened throughout history, don't think you are exempt anywhere, it just needs a trigger. Me and Harry are going to start yet another revolution, grow pony tails, smoke dope and bring it up to date by wearing sandals, so FU, how will you cope with sandals? A drastic move I know but the people need to 'feel it' our commitment to change. We'll throw away our socks in the name of freedom, anyone left standing and not gagging welcome, our slogan 'Knit your own' perfect for the new path we will tread (in our bare feet if you don't get knitting), Power to the People. History says so. No one allows a government that cannot follow its' own laws to exist. Government isn't bigger than the nation, it's just the steward. Nations and people survive, politicians fall by the wayside. RobMc
 Awards

From my research about British Healthcare, it seems that it is quite simply vastly underfunded. What the world needs is great leaders, with compassion, intelligence, education, wisdom and common sense. Kids need to be raised with the education of different societies and governments and hash out the pros and cons of each, the dangers and past mistakes, history is so very important to understand as tragically, it does repeat itself over and over and over again. Greed and selfishness and all those "evil" traits in an ideology/leader are what get everyone eventually suffering and miserable. Please note who the happiest folks on earth are, they live in "Socialist" countries. Hmmm just think of it, being "happy"... what a concept. 2 cents I know I'm late to the party, just wanted to add this. Basil hung an argument on Finland, and I don't believe it holds up. While Finns enjoy an expansive social safety net, good pensions, and robust sick and family leave protections, their economy cannot be characterized in good faith as socialist. Finland is a thoroughly capitalist nation: Some people make lots of money, and others make very little. But Finland has chosen a more inclusive form of capitalism that ensures that the wealthiest Finns pay their fair share in taxes while the poorest Finns don't suffer for lack of access to food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. In so doing, they've redefined what freedom means in the modern world. They have struck a pretty good balance between social issues and free market. They also do not deal with the diversity that most countries have to manage. Ethnic Finnish people make up about 96.5% of the population.. just an observation, not a mandate for ethnic cleansing RobMc
 Awards

Some countries, like China, (see the bottom quote) might be worded as a Socialist Country, but in my mind it is plain and simple Communist / Dictatorship - like. When I think of real, working, functioning well Socialist Countries, I think of ones that are based on Capitalism yet with a wide range of social programs. The list below of countries, THOSE are what I think of as the real McCoy of Socialist Countries. Quote Are the happiest countries socialist? Forbes magazine's most recent list of “The 10 Happiest Countries” are: Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada and Austria. ... Seven of the happiest countries in the world are socialist. These countries below are the best examples of what some folks think of by the term Socialist Countries, which I disagree - nope they are Communist - Dictatorship - like imho. Quote Which countries are socialist? Marxist–Leninist states Country Since Party People's Republic of China 1 October 1949 Communist Party of China Republic of Cuba 1 January 1959 Communist Party of Cuba Lao People's Democratic Republic 2 December 1975 Lao People's Revolutionary Party Socialist Republic of Vietnam 2 July 1976 Communist Party of Vietnam 2 more cents tossed in. Well having met a good selection of people from most of these countries I would say most are anything but happy with their lot, in fact some have the most miserable people I have ever met, this is confusing wealth with happiness, ffs Iceland??? some of these countries have very high suicide rates, a sure sign of happiness eh? In that light, it's hard to argue against your conclusion, but that would boil down most countries that currently exist into Socialist or Communist.. which probably isn't far from the truth. 6 hours ago, RobMc said: Yep compared to their neighbours Sweden they aren't really socialist Well having met a good selection of people from most of these countries I would say most are anything but happy with their lot, in fact some have the most miserable people I have ever met, this is confusing wealth with happiness, ffs Iceland??? some of these countries have very high suicide rates, a sure sign of happiness eh? Look up the suicide rates lol.. looks like it's just varying degrees. No one wants to admit they are Socialist.. but who isn't? I guess it's a trade off, but I'd have to err on the side of preferring a government that values individual liberty and yet enforces personal responsibility. A hard balance in today's world.
