Somewhat of a sticker shock but off I go to WDW in mid October. Just after the 50th anniversary stuff begins and also more things open up post-covid. Also various Halloween things. Been three years since my last extended vacation, partly because of covid of course.  Cost wasnt too bad considering its Disney, and there is always the air fare, but actually a bit less than when I was there in 2006 and with a better room and an extra day. They are not fully out of covid yet so there are modest deals to be had. And of course now there is Star Wars and Pandora among other things. No Marvel though, and no 12-midnight magic hours, which is a bummer. But 9pm, at least for MK, is good. Might check out Celebration to see what its like.

My daughter wants us to go there for that Salem Halloween thingie in Mass, so who knows?  We might just be there too.

AS FOR WDW, as the kid still I am, I make sure to go there about every 2 years as soon as we could afford it, here are my two cents...

If you don't do the night life stuff, for example, have kids to get to sleep, stay in a Disney off site condo with a kitchen, washer dryer, multiple bath rooms... if you do it right you still get the Disney perks like early entry, maybe even cut lines, and so on.  Not sure what the details are now post covid, so many things it seems have changed.  There actually ARE some really fun and cool restaurants off of WDW and sometimes it is nice to get away from those Mouse Ears if you know what I mean.

EPCOT.  My personal fav, the other parks are just other things to do, but that new Star Wars, hmmm, imho disappointing, but hey gotta see it anyhow.

Is Epcot or Hollywood studios better?
Epcot is best for guests (especially adults) who love eating, drinking, and experiencing cultures from around the world. Hollywood Studios is best for thrill rides, Star Wars, and other film-centric themes. Both Epcot and Hollywood Studios are full-day parks with loads of things to keep adults and children occupied.

STUFF FOR SALE.  Pass - don't waste your money, resist, resist, resist the temptation.  Share meals, drink water it is free.  I personally don't like the bus transportation, takes forever imho.  BUT, those water transports from say Wilderness Lodge, very cool, worth the wait and time.

TOWER OF TERROR, even for those afraid of such things, it is rather fun, recommend even if you hate rollercoasters.

Don't go when the crowds are crazy!  GET THERE EARLY AND RUN TO THE RIDES, Get on the rides when stuff like parades and fireworks are going off ;)

AND, IMHO, Universal Studios is so much funner!  The Harry Potter areas are way cool.  A step above everything else in Orlando, even if you don't like the Harry Potter movies/books, those areas are super fun and cool.

Top 5 Attractions at Universal Studios Florida
  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™
  • Fast & Furious — Supercharged.
  • Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.
  • TRANSFORMERS™: The Ride-3D.
  • Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.

NEED A BREAK FROM ORLANDO FOR A DAY?  Easy drive to Clearwater Beach (West coast of FL)  for a swim, so pretty and yummy seafood too.

Why Go To Clearwater Beach

Clearwater Beach sits on a long, thin island off of Florida's west coast within 25 miles of both St. Petersburg and Tampa. Though a trip to the town from the mainland takes just a few minutes, you'll feel worlds away from the big-city atmosphere you're leaving behind. This laid-back area is known for its beautiful coastline – U.S. News ranks Clearwater Beach as one of Florida's best beaches – but you'll also find a number of other attractions worth checking out.

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :animier:

Its more expensive but on other trips like that I stayed close because its much more convenient for me and the more areas I can cut out the stress factor the better it is. And with epilepsy driving is pretty much a no-go. A rental car place likely wouldnt give me one anyway because of it.

If it wasnt for covid I would have maybe tried to plan out a trip to Kyoto. But things are not good in Japan right now and pretty much only essential travel is allowed in. Maybe in the future.

Of course now it's the extras that I have to get. The couple luggage bags I had look to have been lost. My digital camera, if it still works, is old enough to be a teenager. My iphone is a 5c with a well used battery. Probably need new shorts since I am not as thin as in my younger days. Not that I was ever thin. Either that or 3 months of serious dieting. And more stuff after that. Should probably get new distance glasses since what I have are maybe 3 years old. The list goes on.
