Right.. but you won't receive Windows updates so why would people go for that option?

To run it this is what I would have to do since my cpu isnt on the support list. Likely the mb is missing the newer security features. Admittedly a majority of the stuff on my system is on the older side. But at the moment I dont really have a need to shell out the bucks for a new system. Not worth it anyways unless I could get a new gpu to go with it.

For $30 I'll head over with my USB stick with all the downloaded updates and install them for you.... Plus 75 cents a mile surcharge.....  🤪

Is that surcharge above and beyond the price of a gallon of gas? 🤔

Not going to even rush to buy Windows 11 even though my system is more than capable of running it and has TPM2.0 available (not enabled).  Something tells me my transition to linux will be 100% dedication by the times Windows 10 has become EOL 🙂

Just doing the updates or in place upgrade, you must have Win 10 with a valid key installed.  Gas price just went up, so let's call it $1 ... both ways... more if I fly... 🚁

PC’s with unsupported cpu’s will not be able to upgrade, have to install manually from iso. Will not receive Windows updates or driver updates. Microsoft has said (from testing) that unsupported pc’s had 42% more kernel crashes than supported ones. Could change again, who knows.

Windows 11 looks like crap to be honest. Why are they even making it? There is nothing wrong with Windows 10 🤔

Interesting you say that - are you talking visuals or underlying changes?

There is lots wrong with Windows 10 and many things holding back it's evolution.. but in the end it's down to the consumer to choose whether to upgrade or not.

Exactly what I think about it. It seems to me, that Microsoft trys to copy Apple. I bought a PC with Win11 installed and the first thing I did, was installing Win10.

The next two or three years, there will be noch need to cahnge the system software. until then, it will change a couple of times, updates and upgrades are available, and then it might be stable and all those discussions about requirements and TPM (in my case a dongle would cost about 12 $), will be for nothing.

A bit of both, visually and under the hood. It feels a little to Apple OS visually and I have heard a lot of rumours about Windows 11 that don't sit right with me. Such as the eventual phasing out of the control panel and something about them having ads in their own operating system. Of course, these are just rumours and I will readily admit that I have not actually done the research so I am basing my opinion on what I have seen posted on social media websites.

What would be wrong with Windows 10? The only thing I don't like about it is the start menu and the settings app, much prefer the control panel and something akin to windows XP or 7 for the start menu; but I know it is down to personal preference.

I won't be upgrading right away, I don't think. I want to see how it rolls out and what they do with it and then make my choice.

Well before I start playing around with Win 11, I'm making a diskimg of my Win 10 just in case things don't work too well.  The beta Win 11 didn't like COD4 but that could have been just a driver problem. Was dropping frames like I had a 500 ping back in the day of dial up.

I've heard others complaining of the same thing with CoD games.
