So they marked down the R7 5800x and I went for it.  Figured it might be the last cpu upgrade for this MSI X470 mobo.....  In 4 minutes, the time it took to swap the cpu, I went to this...  from this.....  Runs a bit hot under stress test, but my H115i should handle it ok, I think.

A 5800X is a great processor. You still have the option later, for a 5950X ;)

I hope that the next generation of AMD, the AM5(?) motherboards could last that long too. Just crazy that Intel choice of every two years a different BGA/LGA socket. I have to say 'normally', because some ONDA motherboards can do the Gen 6, 7, 8, and the 9th GEN.

Good pick!

The 115i is 18months years old and is top mounted.  Still have the H90 that I used for 4 years as a backup.  As for the case, I haven't put the side on my cases in 15 years or so. Also have a little fan blowing in on the VRM's, so np with airflow.  Haven't had a "windowed" case to see the RGB stuff, but the real reason is that I'm was always testing out HD's that crashed on friends systems.  Got a HOTSWAP slot on my case now to check out the sata stuff, which makes it easy these days.

Try Amazon and Newegg.  In stock at both sites.

Note: with case side off you get no air change on components and they run hotter also heat adds resistance to electons flow

great them hot swap bays

Think you missed the part about a fan blowing in the case.  It's a small house fan and plenty of air flow.  And I do like the hot swap.  Just switched it on in my bios, connected the sata cables from the case and was good to go.
