I would like to know if there are any risks in installing Windows 11.  My computer does not meet the requirements so I have to install the program they state in order to make my PC compatible with Windows 11.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks

Papi

I love Win 11, best windows ever so far.  Of course I'm using it in a VM so there is little risk for me.

Why do you want to go to 11?

I think you will find you do not need to download a program just activate one in your Bios. If you do a google search it will tell you how and there is a youtube video as well.

The first thing we need to know is why doesn't your system meet the Win11 requirements?  Is UEFI, Secure Boot capable, the CPU or Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0?  I guessing your memory and GPU are ok.  If it's TPM that might be fixed if you can just activate it in your bios. Same with Secure Boot, but you need a Gpart formatted boot drive not one that is MBR if I remember right.

If your motherboard is more than a couple of years old, it will not have a TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) installed in it. I bought my AM4 motherboard back in July and it does not have a TPM module but it Does have a header on the board to plug one into.

If I had one, I would have probably installed Win 11 a couple of months ago. But I'm to Cheap and Broke to spend the $35 + shipping for the TPM 2.0 module.

Win 10 works fine and I'm not willing to install some 3rd party software or install a Win 11 Beta version and then upgrade to Win 11 to get it to install.

If I'm going to install Win 11 it will be a Clean install. I've had way to many "Hiccups" from Upgrading OSes in the past. Win 7 to Win 8 was a Nightmare then came Win 8.1 then Win 8.1 to Win 10. Every single time I've eventually had to Format and do a clean install.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions  I presently do not have any need for Windows 11, but just thinking ahead to the time Microsoft stops supporting  W 10 any more.  I am not sure if I would get another PC in that time frame. My issue is the TPM.  Keep on playing.

Amd boards am 4? i  have the X470 ultra gaming TPM shows on there as fTpm,problem with enabling secure boot is you also have to change it to UEFI,problem i had it then showed "NO DRIVES",after weeks  getting hump with it, had to download W11 then do fresh install, then had to convert to GPRT to the hard drive, your right lot of flaffing just for W11, i like it and dont, theres few things W10/W8.1 etc  had i able to put drives showable on taskbar, move task bar to right or left.W11 only alows top or bottom[me awkward like mine on right side] and like drives on task bar, were as W11 its a folder.Control panel it was easier to locate things not now. Also on most am4 even ones that just allowed W10,you may find theres a bios update to help with 11

I am using W11 since it was available to upgrade. Have not experienced any problems to date.

Do you know what Motherboard you are running? Does it have a spot to plug a TPM module into it? Amazon has one for my motherboard but I'm to cheap to buy it and to damn lazy to reformat again. Win 10 works perfectly fine for the games that I play.

echo if it anit  broke dont fixit.  question  does current hardware support TPM 2.0

get another HDD / SSD

first use a flash drive to collect all win11 drivers for your hardware un zip if are on flash stick

note while win 10 still mounted, update your motherboard  firmware by thier update app note on current hardware, older hardware may have to do manually cause make sure your have the correct file for MB REVISION  it will be printed on MB as Rev.X.XX match that to your model  MB file

remove current drive  then install  new drive and load win11 and drivers if need be , once working fine then shut down and replace win10 drive  leaving win 11 mounted, boot hit F8 and select what drive you want to boot from bios now you have a dual boot system .

note  make a back-up of  each drive  to save your wanted data on big flash drive for each OS drive

If you're running Windows 10, 11 will work just fine, you just need to edit the Registry to say it has a TPM module.

You can install Windows 11 without a TPM and editing the registry, it will just watermark nag your desktop in the corner...oh noes the humanity. Also you won't get some security updates...but if you're still rocking WinXP(ffs why?),  Win7, Win8.1 and soon Win10 you're not getting those updates either.

If you aren't running GPT & UEFI you are on 2000's Tech and you are going on being 2 decades behind in computer hardware requirements.  Any hard drive can be set to GPT and booted with UEFI.

Many CPU's have a built in TPM module, it just needs to be enabled in the BIOS.
