Good luck finding a Video card for any where near it's Retail price. Most newer video cards are selling for 100%+ more than there retail prices. Video card Prices just started to drop a tiny bit but they are still ridiculously overpriced.

example. a newer $439.99 card is selling for $761.99 new on Amazon or $649-$800 on ebay. Bad thing about Ebay is that you could be buying a video card that was used for Mining Bitcoin.

Mining cards run 24/7 and at 100% usage for months or years on end. My RX 480 4g card was used for mining and it died on me. I bought it for $100 and it lasted about 2 1/2 years but it started randomly crashing and artifacting about 1 year ago. It would only run without crashing with certain older drivers.

Build the computer for what you are wanting to do with it.  You may not need the latest hardware.

I really don't. I usually just play cod 4. I mean I like to play other games but I just don't have time for that and always a cod 4 girl.

@Icequeen It would be best to start with your budget and then preference such as Intel or AMD...4 core or 8 core but not 6 core...Then consider you want minimum of 4gigs on a video card with higher being better but not needed for Cod series games...8 gigs of ram on the board I would say is minimum as well...You could look at Newegg for a prebuilt deal or go from there on your build plans

Icy  you want a tower or laptop for a system ?

other read the manual before attempting to build (tower)

oh forgot to ask are going to use your old case, PSU or all fresh stuff ?

do your research  and paste up here so the geeks can tell you  nay or yeah.

other what games want to play and question are entertaining to use a TV screen as a monitor.

other is case air flow  take a pic of tower

best accessory is a fan controler

other is RGB lighting for most new motherboards have on board but nrrd to add lights

At this time, if you go the PC route, it would probably be advisable to get a prebuilt system to your desired specifications and parts. Also for availability. But not a Dell or some other that locks you into their ecosystem. Building your own is fun. But then again the older we get the less interesting it becomes and people just want something to do the job well.

Unless you want to wait 4-6 months for pricing to drop, a prebuilt is your best bet DO NOT BUY HP, Dell is ok but you have to drop over 2k with them to get anything decent.  I buy power has nice prebuilt for $1499 12th gen i512600KF, 16GB DDR4, Nvidia 3060 12gb GPU, 1TB NVME hard drive. https://www.ibuypower.com/store/gaming-rdy-slhbg207

Or $1299 a bit slower and less storage an AMD Ryzen 5600G, 16GB DDR4, AMD RX6600 GPU, 500GB NVME hard drive https://www.ibuypower.com/store/gaming-rdy-slhrr207

Both will rock CoD4 with one stick of RAM behind it's back and no way you could build either yourself for that pricing right now.

I definitely am going to be getting a PC. For gaming. Not huge gaming needs.

so you mean all new stuff, no reuse old case ?

a tip when building PC have a good set of tools

when install CPU makes sure you know where the marks to align oritation

image.thumb.png.317429b333373c7d4997644659f7f210.png

and take one edge of CPU and conect to socket  edge with slight pressure of latural force along CPU and like a door hindge works close the door, if still have old computer,  try  practicing with remove and install old CPU to get the hang of it. Note: check your motherboard box for the BIOS version and check if it supports your new CPU if not the system will not boot, need to use a CPU that matches  BIOS version  to get system to boot ,  then get the correct bios version file on flash stick  that MATCHES  your MB REVISION note written on MB as Rev.x.xx   matches MB model  and Rev.  once booted enter bios and update bios with correct file. note do not turn off system when updating bios or loose power will render a new door stop!

other the pins in socket are very delicate  if bend one  system will not boot.  to fix that need a magifying glass and medium size safety pin to straighten it and careful not to slip and bend others, been there took me 4 attemps to get it booting. best look at the overall array of pins and match alignment position.

nice tool to use to install CPU. smear some vaseoline on cup squeeze bulb then attach to CPU heatspreader , pich up by clear plastic and wiggle to test if holding. place CPU in socket, with 2 hands , 1 hold down CPU other hand squeeze bulb to relase then still holding CPU down close the socket retainer and latch locking arm. then clean off vaseoline with lint free paper/cloth with rubbing alchol

these are the things sometime happens on new stuff

some stores offer hardware installing  ask to save the headache  installing CPU

oh the graphics going to be a card or built in CPU ?

Probably a card so I can change it out if I need too. That would be the smarter way to go right?

Pretty darn decent PC for the price. 8 core 16 thread AMD Ryzen 7-5700G CPU is faster than all of intels 9-11 series cpus, 12gb RTX 3060 GPU is a decent card. Motherboard is a standard Micro ATX board and it has alot of decent features including wifi and Bluetooth. 16gb of memory, 2 HDDs 1 512gb NVMe SSD and a 1tb hdd for storage.  Case has decent airflow with it's mesh front and top.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-legion-tower-5-amd-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-7-5700g-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-512gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-raven-black/6476717.p?skuId=6476717

Read through reviews and comments on it and all of them are good except for a few that didn't care for the RGB lights and a couple had problems connecting to the internet using the WiFi.

1 thing about Lenovo is that they use decent quality components such as power supply, motherboard, memory ect. Bad thing about iBuyPower is that they tend to cheap out on the motherboard, power supply and most of there cases are not vented properly which causes the CPU and GPU to overheat.

I watch GamersNexus reviews all of the time and iBuyPower cases always suffer from overheating because of the glass front panels they use on most of there gaming pc cases.

There’s a lot to unpack in this latest round of leaks, but perhaps the most exciting piece of gossip comes from Greymon55, a known source for leaks on all things tech on Twitter. Greymon55 shared a cryptic tweet, implying that GPU prices will “drop dramatically” starting next month. While the leaker doesn’t specify what might be the cause of this huge drop, it certainly brings a much-needed glimmer of hope at a time when graphics cards are still outrageously priced.  Monica J. White

in the works prices may come down on GPU cards

the gpu, SSD is less GPU compare to TSW ...still wins

Icy question  what's the status of your old computer ?

if still have it

for i had a big flood with my system and the HDD's got wet and they not booting, took them out an got new ones and put on the computer desk shelf. year later was cleaning desk  and i  tested before i toss them  an they good as new  working fine.  so if that happened  you still can recover lost data and use it as win10 for dual boot your drives if want to.

1 what is your budget

2 what are your expectations  with that budget

if your only interest is playing cod4  and hang around on ts  browsing  etc   buy  a system that only does that      and lets be honsest guys  any  dualcore plus a 8800gtx is overkill for cod4  if on a budget  combine that with  a xbox XBOX SERIES S  get you some  game pass action and you are set for a long time  and yes play with keyboard and mouse on the xbox
