It's been about 22 years of using LCD as my primary gaming display and those advanced from around 27hz with the originals to 60hz a while ago.  Many folks have told me more Hz is better and most recently @Remmy at Xi virtual happy hour this past Saturday.  Finally as of last year my laptop and even phone are at 120hz.  So I finally tried it out with my laptop's built in display and it definitely made a difference even on COD4's old software. Gotta do it.

Looking at 144hz to 240hz displays right now any further advice from folks?

But for a budget this is my 2nd monitor that I use it’s very good also and it’s budget friendly in my opinion I bought mine on Black Friday a couple years back! I would recommend this one also! https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824475043?item=N82E16824475043&source=googleshopping&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords-mobile&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-mobile-_-pla-_-gaming+monitors-_-N82E16824475043&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItPzToZ-U9gIVGpSzCh3twgWLEAQYAiABEgJSPPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

240Hz is for 3D video (120+120) native 3D

Yaccster how big of screen you want to go ?

note after 72Hz for the naked eye not see the flicker

anything above 120Hz motion blur/ stutter not there

144Hz for 4k video

try going to a electronics shop and look at demos ( note they are cranked to the max for the show room) before you buy for some aren't supporting mult-modes, up converting  read the  fine print

for me i like Sharp Aquos series TV for monitor and Samsung high end

only problem is text on web  need to magify screen to see what's written and hate the interactive on new TV's

Baron can weight in on his question for your rolling a TV screen for a PC monitor too.

What's the difference between a rental car and a Jeep?

There are some places you wouldn't take a Jeep.

What do you call a rental car in Spain?

A Barceloaner

The penguin and the mechanic

A penguin is driving a rental car through Arizona when, suddenly, the air conditioner stops working. The penguin, frantic with the heat, swerves into the first car repair shop he sees.

Penguin jumps out yelling, "Quick, quick! Drop everything and fix my air conditioner. I'm literally dying from this heat! Really, it's an emergency!"

The mechanic says, "Calm down, now. I can fix your car in about a half hour, and you should just go across the street to wait in the ice cream shop. It's cool in there, and they sell soft-serve ice cream."

The penguin is thrilled, jumping up and down, and yells, "Yay!! Soft serve is my favorite!", and he scampers across the street waving his stubby wings.

Exactly a half hour later the penguin rushes out of the ice cream shop with vanilla ice cream all over his face, and runs into the repair shop, yelling, "Did you fix it!? Did you fix it!?"

The mechanic says, "Yeah, no problem. It looks like you just blew a seal."

The penguin frantically wipes his mouth and yells,

"NUH-UH! That's just ice cream!!"

Did a 49” Dell 5k2k when they came out a couple of years ago and returned it. Currently using an LG 5k2k 34”.

Looking at the neo g9 or maybe will wait for the neo g8 or the new Alienware oled?

I've been gaming on 144hz for almost 10 years, Currently I have dual 27" 2k 170hz ASUS Displays. I run both at 120hz on the desktop, anything less just doesn't look right to me. CoD4 I run at 155hz and whatever else supports setting refresh rates.

I have an Acer Predator xb271hu that I've had for a bit over 2 years and I love it. Got it on a great black Friday deal but it's a little bit cheaper now even so. IMO 27" is the perfect size. I've never tried a curved but I really don't think it's for me. Who knows, to each their own.

just remember when you look ,to  look  what your video card supports to  Amd uses G- sync [and what ever Nvidia uses lol [ as  rare they support both ] Had the Aoc 32 144hz for a whole 6 months and accidently knocked it over putting cable in and broke the screen🤬 replaced it with a Msi 165hz one😀,but depends on your budget  and also card you have if you want 4k, the msi i have only displays 1080p but have played it with my Rx580 at 2k.if you get curved after few weeks it will look flat anyway but will give you bit off eye strain.Would i swap it for a flat uhmmm nope.

Will say had it now for 2yrs and starting to look like a small screen and for us oldies the old 15 inch crts back then looked big!

Video card, huh? Last modern one I still have is a Titan Xp, but I am likely to just attach this to my MacBook Pro M1Max with its 32 GPU cores, more than adequate for Cod4 at 1440p at 250 fps.

I noticed a huge difference from going from a 20" 1ms 1080p monitor to a 27" Samsung supposedly 2ms (GTG) 1080p 60hz LED backlit monitor. My old 20" monitor felt much much faster.

Doing a real MPRT test with my 27" Samsung monitor shows that it is actually 16.7ms response time which is absolutely fucking HORRIBLE.

This monitor has 3 response time settings and set to Quickest it adds something like 12ms of buffering which feels like Input Lag and adds Edge smoothing which makes it look like crap in games.I would rather it be slower response time then have very noticeable input lag and that Edge smoothing crap.

It's a Samsung SyncMaster SA550.

Here is the test. Start at 0 Pixels Per Frame and adjust up until you see a perfect scrolling checkerboard pattern. Then look at your MPRT which is your Real World monitor Response Time.

big TVs have really bad response times unless ya spend like 5k on 1.

I should test my old faithful 50" Plasma TV just for the lolz. The thing has an absolutely beautiful picture but they have really slow gtg response times. Something like sub 1 second lol. I'm to broke and cheap to buy something newer and I rarely watch TV.

I read that Refresh Rates higher than 74 make a huge difference in gaming. Especially in the E-Sports world where they try to get every advantage then can. Not really fair to us old broke farts that play on what ever we can afford just to have fun but "to each there own" I guess.

I bought a 32 inch Dell gaming monitor a couple of years ago that's been great. It's a bit pricey, around 400.00 The reviews are very good. They've replaced the one I have with a new model. https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-32-curved-gaming-monitor-s3222dgm/apd/210-AZZR/monitors-monitor-accessories
