Question : If Putin doesn't want Nato on his front door step isn't taking Ukraine putting Nato on his door step ?

Hey Loader, I think Putin has no interest in annexing the Ukraine. He wishes to neutralize the Ukrainian military, replace the government that is pro-Russian one  which will in effect stop the Ukraine from ever joining NATO.

He will in effect have a buffer nation between Russia and any NATO defense build up.

Exactly; taking the Donbass & the rest of that Eastern area will effectively annex Ukraine's manufacturing/defense industry; also giving him more natural resources & supporting infrastructure.   Putin has  basically stated he wants his own Monroe Doctrine; no missiles on his doorstep.  In what ways is it different from Kennedy's assertion of The Monroe Doctrine vis a vis Cuba in his request for Ukraine to not join NATO & military infrastructure be placed on his western border?  I recognize Ukraine's right to sovereignty & self-agency.  I ask these questions in that while the U.S. asserts authority over the entire Western Hemisphere; how much elbow room should Russia be afforded?   The last instance I remember of assertion was Reagan deposing Noriega because he was a drug dealer.  The main difference being that Putin is an absolute dictator with no qualms killing his own people to maintain control; ie journalists, political opposition.  That notwithstanding, should there be a recognized military-free zone afforded him/Russia?  Or is that he is a bad man justification for carte blanche actions in the region?  And how much nicer would life be for Russia if they played nice like the rest of Europe?

Except that the 'known quantity' might be replaced by something worse...  Who else is going to hold all the disparate bad actors in line in that whole region?  Like the saying goes: Measure twice, cut once.

OMG, so much ignorance! I'll save my time and leave you with a couple things! And he doesn't even mention the BioLabs Putin has targeted.  Truth and even identified in the DoD website. As loader said, would we want missiles and Biolabs across  the Mexican border? No. He is NOT targeting citizens. Some collateral damage and deaths. Sure, some. They gave weapons to citizens and now thugs are wreaking havoc on their own people!! Wake up sheep!  Connect the dots!

Ukraine has been a hub of corruption for the "cabal"/NWO. Remember Hunter Biden's laptop prior to the election? Smear campaign? Ya, right.

@Ruggerxi  Could you be so kind as to remove above-inflammatory-attention-whore shit-stirrer's ad-hominen dumpster fire bullshit posts from what has been a civil big-boy discussion of the current events?

Based on Putins rhetoric and threats the last few days it suggests that he didnt expect the united front against him and that perhaps its beginning to hurt his ability to control things.

Russian sons returning home to their mothers in body bags isn't helping him either...

He also likely doesnt want the people to know, and especially see, that they are shelling cities... like the Nazis did.

I do have to say that for all my comments about how bad the Internet is and social media in general, there are times like this when it shows its worth. It allows communication that dictators such as Putin dont want us to do and to show things they dont want us to see. Of course you have to be careful of propaganda, since as they say the truth is the first casualty of war, but in the end thats on us. Not for others to tell us.

So much for all that 'censorship' political bullshit. Enough already. If people in Russia and Ukraine can get past REAL censors or widespread blackouts, potentially at great personal cost (you can now get sent to prison for uploading 'fake news'), people here in the west have no problem at all. Maybe the politically based censorship people here that get on cable and the internet are just weak. So great kudos to the people in Russia and Ukraine for taking risks to finding a way to bypass Putin.

An interesting comment by Putin when asked about the martial law rumors.

"We don't plan to introduce any kind of special regime on Russian territory - there is currently no need,"

First, 'special regime'? Is that like 'special military operation'? And then, 'currently' no need? Are both of those meant as threats to the people of Russia? He already made it a crime, with prison time, to say 'invasion' or 'war' with Ukraine instead of 'special military operation'. Of course that would make saying 'martial law' instead of 'special regime' a crime. This is what dictators do and he got a law rubber stamped to boot.  I dont think anyone in Canada has gotten a law passed making it a crime for calling their leader a dictator. Perhaps I am wrong and some people have been arrested for doing so?

It would of been interesting to see what Putin would of done with the freedom convoy had it been out side of the kremlin 🙂

Not yet ... but I'm sure it will come.

Right now Canada is working on passing laws to make

- Alternative media illegal (C-11)
- Precrime or thought-crime illegal (C-36)

I'm sure once we have these basic human freedoms removed, it should be much easier to make it a crime to call our supreme leader what he is.
