Of course it was designed to be a not so subtle jab at Putins idiot foreign minister who keeps bringing up their nuclear forces. Gotta admit it was a pretty good way of sending a message without having to say a word making our own threats about our own forces or raising alerts. Which I am sure we have anyways, we just dont get on TV and advertise it.

Unfortunately it hearkens back to M.A.D. and that is not a good thing after all the progress that has been made. But when one side starts behaving this way the other has no other choice.

OK here is my take on this current situation... now, thanks Putin, the doomesday clock is really, really close to midnight.   

It looks as though Putin is crazy (Absolute power corrupts absolutely) and living in denial-land.  He has all those nukes...    Apparently, he is the richest man on earth, so this isn't a money-grab.  (What happens when you steal Russia's entire asset base unchecked.)  No this is about power and control, and his now insane ego.  Not good at all.

Chernobyl is located on the shortest route from Belarus to Ukraine's capital city of Kyiv and runs along a logical line of attack for the Russian forces invading Ukraine. Plus the thought is that because of the Radiation in that area it would allow the Russians to move through the area and not have to worry about attack since explosions would throw massive amounts of toxic material in to the air and causing damage on a global scale they could claim wasn't their doing. Leaders rarely care about their troops dying in battle or after battle. Just look at here where we spend so much money on weapons and yet we have to see commercials for Wounded Warrior Project and others to help Vet's when our Government won't and doesn't have the courage to take care of our troops that came home alive ever.

Seems that they are going after another plant. This time an active one and a facility was hit by shelling and on fire. Who in their right mind fires on a nuclear power plant? Is Putin really that stupid that he thinks the world will buy his bullshit and let him get away with it?

Well me thinks Puttin is after the old USSR,Ukraine is very rich in minerals etc,plus gas line runs through it and also he will control the black sea, mind you China is having re think re the sanctions, if that happened to them they would be bankrupt within a week.Hence distanced themselves from him whicjh has peeved him off a tad

 

As for Puttins nukes he may have a lot launches one  Nato counties around him have more than Russia combined...boom no Russia Puttin loses,not really its the innocents that lose from one who thinks he walks on water.Mind you apparently he is of afraid of one thing---- Being Assainated

He has used a few methods and threats to try and at least frighten away some of the smaller countries. To him, hopefully those that would not allow support to Ukraine across their borders or would not take part in the various non-military reprisals. Sanctions, asset seizures, multi-faceted embargoes and such. But that wont work when they (meaning anyone in the west with nukes) have far more advanced systems than he does and everyone knows it. Maybe he gambled on a large pro-Russian and anti-European sentiment in the US?
