And people complain that gas in California is expensive. 😛

I find the mere existence of this video the most important thing not the gas prices. In Russia of all places they were able to not only film it but get it out of the country when access to so much of the internet is simply shut down. This is just a guy driving around. Fortunately Putin hasnt made such things a crime... unless he wants to say its 'fake news' with that new law of his. I wouldnt put it past him. But it also makes you wonder what all the well trained intelligence assets in Russia, and Ukraine, are sending back that we dont and will never know about.

Also, supporting a military on the move takes a LOT of fuel. So that also is likely causing big shortages. Makes the move away from gas dependence by the US military seem like a pretty good idea and its not some environment thing.

edit: It also begs the question. Not only whats getting out by average people. But what is getting in for average people to see?

sAying shit about the russians on the price of gas here is very funny. In Canada its 175 and change a liter. WOW but our price is based on the cost of a us barrel of oil. Now if teh american oil companies need some say extra cash all they do is shut down a refinery for a month say its for matience and that price shoots up 25 percent. There is alot going on in the price of gas in Canada but the greedy price increases is all American .

So if we are seeing massive gas price increases all over the world ... even, or maybe I should say especially, in the net producing nations, it would seem we are either at peak oil (which I don't believe) or all the leaders are in on the grift.

On top of this, here in Canada, our Supreme Leader will increase 'Carbon Taxes' by another 25% on fuel on April 1st to stop global warming.

Taxes and high prices are actually good for us.  Thank you for paying your part.

Rock and a hard place, isnt it. Here is a compromise. Finish the pipeline. In return, none of the oil that goes through it may be exported. National security for domestic oil production for North America.

Gas prices were $.99 for regular before the Gulf War. They have never dropped back down that low. Gas prices were at a record high under Obama then under Trump they dropped down to 2004/2006 prices which was still over double what it was back in 99/2000.

How I see it, Biden plops his ass in the seat and prices instantly shoot up to record highs with no break in sight.

I insist you all keep your SUV’s and Pickups topped off for the best of the country. We in oil rich Alberta are having troubles as it is, trying to find safe havens for our yacht and private jets. 😉😆

Were petrol prices not getting bad during covid anyways? The situation in Ukraine has only added a few cents for me here in Australia. Think we are averaging about $1.85 which is still maybe the highest ever. Trouble is that it never seems to go back down regardless of the temporary reason it goes up.

Blame who or what you want but that is the free market. All businesses charge whatever the market will bear. Economics 101.

This is part of how thinks get messed up. The 25% increase is not on the cost of fuel. It's a 25% bump on the carbon tax itself . I think its wirks out to about 3 cents a liter.

Yup ... and when the Supreme Leader's Carbon Tax is fully implemented by 2030, it will have raised the price per liter by about 37 cents.  This does not include the rise in heating oil, electricity or any of the trickle down effects that occur when production costs of everything rises.  However,  these taxes will for sure stop global warming.  So thank goodness for that.

We don't have a free market in the energy sector.

Gov's dabble with regulation, taxes and wars ... causing the market to respond downstream.  In the long run people will either have to pay more for their goods and services or do without.  The supply vs demand model which is called 'free market' no longer has the biggest influence on prices.  Current increases in energy prices are not based on scarcity or abundance, but on regulation, governmental interference (sanctions,) and war.
