So I’ve been running a 3070FE for about a year now well for some reason when I put a load on the card. Like playing cod or rendering etc. both monitors go black and will not come back I have to force a shutdown on it for it to come back. But it doesn’t do it when at idle and surfing the web. I’ve tried different monitors,DP cables,HDMIs, I’ve fully wiped my drives, and wiped drivers, and nothing is getting hot. And I put in my old 1080ti and it works perfectly fine. Hasn’t crashed in 4 days But, Right now I am stumped only thing I can think to try is pulling the card apart and replying thermal paste.

What do you guys think?? 🤔

If it's under warranty get it fixed!

And what are you doing with a 1080Ti lying around??  That's some gold there!

If your using MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision, try down clocking the card and see if that helps. Also check video memory for errors,

Does it happen when you watch Youtube at 1080p/60 or higher? Seems like your card is have issues to render from 2d to 3d mode. What happens if you empty a SSD, install a fresh OS on there and use the driver when the card came out? Maybe you can find the driver disk in the box.

I would also install Linux on an empty drive by Rufus. But try a fresh OS and that is easy to be done. And in the meantime, contact NVidia for help. That is assuming the FE stands for. They could see, by the serial number, what they can offer. A no is a no ;)

So, empty a SSD and let us know what your findings are. Once a fresh install is done, use GPU-Z and click on the "?" next to the PCIE 3.0 x16 like below:

Before GPU-Z, install the drivers first to test that. Or else Windows grabs a silly driver from that OS.

If your RMA is getting denied, do not throw away your videocard. I happen to know someone that can fix videocards. Not sure where you live, but don't sell it for parts. I also am going to go into repairing electronics like motherboards and videocard this year. Do not give up yet.

This is mine:

@X-RayXI I’ve tried a fresh OS and the recommended driver also and still no luck but I haven’t tried a Linux yet I’ll definitely give that a try for sure and also I can watch 1080p YouTube vids all day I just can render stuff or game on it anytime I launched a game 5-10 of playing it’s a straight black screen. And I hear like a windows error sound thru my headphones but I can still hear the game playing fine but no video

I do not think, after trying a fresh OS install, that Linux would help you. I think that what Tw33tle_Dee said, you should give that a try. Give the card lesser stock speed and try it from there. You can also monitor with GPU-Z the temps and the clocks.

When you do that, install a single fan and blow it straight into the part where it sucks the air in. By that the temps of the VRMs would be cooler.

Tomorrow, sit down and write a nice letter by email to NVidia and see if they can help. The card is not that old, and they should give warranty, or at least let them check it out. Do NOT take the card apart before this period.

Driver crash. Try using the Studio Driver which is the latest Stable Release.  The "Game Ready" drivers are the "Beta" driver according to the release highlights.

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/186770/en-us

What power supply you running and how old?

My 2070 super doesn't like the Game Ready drivers. Had it crash 3 times with 2 different Game Ready drivers. Switched to the newest Studio driver and it hasn't crashed a single time.

I'm rite at the minimum requirements for a 2070 super FE with my old Corsair HX650W Pro power supply that I bought at CompUSA 10-12 years ago?. If I try cranking the graphics in GTA5 it starts shuttering and dropping frames pretty bad and the driver will crash. Pretty sure I hit the limit of what this power supply can handle. I have an 850w Thermaltake but it's older than my old Corsair and It doesn't have 8 pin pcie cables. All it has is 2 4 pin pcie power cables so it's pretty much worthless.

@J3st3r I’ll give that driver a try and see but I’m running a evga GQ 1000w power supply brand new probably 2 months old I’ve literally swapped every part of my pc to see if it would fix it and nothing has helped and I’m running 2 of the Alienware monitors

@Krackennutz I’m using the display port cable it came with. And just a standard HDMI cable and I don’t play anything in 4K not my style

Tried an active fan straight to the videocard yet? Grab a 120mm fan from somewhere and hook that up to a motherboard, that you control in your BIOS on full-speed. See how that goes.

Can you Google your videocard please and post a picture of it? I want the brand and type of it too.
The VRM's are getting to hot and a kind of surge steps in.

You said you had no idea of the warranty right? If not, do you have MX-4 coolerpaste at home?

I hated this design when it came out.

The '?' shows a dead spot, not to be able to cool enough. Plus, in those lanes around it, the air escape sucks and you might have dust having a playing field there. What to learn here is yes, the GPU chip might be fine in temps, but not the VRM's that is around the graphics-chip. That is behind that blind-spot.

What also is possible, that the strips that are on the VRMs is moved as in meaning that the small things  overheat.
These card is a pain in the ass to open, unmount it and I recommend you to find Youtube video's of how they are able to do it. Only, if you are not having that RMA claim.

Take it out, take a good look with a flashlight.

Or do you have this one? :

@X-RayXI it’s the 3070FE card. I mean if I can’t get a RMA I’ll take it apart for sure. I know my way around cards. I’ve just never had a problem to this gratitude

Yeah, can see that. What is so plain stupid, are those rings around the fans. I wonder how many people have this problem (now).

While you wait, see if you can add a fan in lower front and to blow air in and again out in the back.  THis sucks, but the other way ;)
At least you know where or what the issue is. I cross my fingers for you with an RMA.

Let us know how that goes and see you around.
