how much is a new Mac? 3x? 4x? 5x? the price of an equivalent high end PC? with very very limited upgrade capability? and if it breaks you have to pay them to fix it or void your agreement which pretty much renders it useless?

nope no thank you lol.

YACCster

the guy got the wrong  OSx version

Windows cannot format a disc larger than 32 GB to FAT32, but Mac OS X can.

The exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is a Microsoft file system that is compatible with Windows and Mac OS 10.6+. It is also compatible with many media devices such as TVs and portable media players.

  FAT   Info

got a mac air (2016) question for you ,  new battery charger still not charge or boot,  replace battery still no boot. i think owner had gotten laptop wet  may have to change motherboard

Dude sounds like he never used 32bit DOS or OS/2. He might try a bare kernel of Linux, if he likes bare bones & speed.

Both OSes have their strengths and weaknesses really depends on what you intend to do on your machine. I use a MBP and a Windows machine at work.

At home use for browsing, audio/video calling I use my iPad + iPhone combo. I use custom built Windows machine for gaming ( yes I know I don’t as much now), dev work, and occasional video editing, phone backups. As many of you Windows users know by now the availability of SW support on Windows is extensive. The option to upgrade parts in custom builds is great. I also use Ubuntu Linux when I want maximum CPU performance for dev work and/or other things. Also, I get better online privacy with Ubuntu or well I am much more in control from an OS standpoint.

My relationship with Apple’s products over the last 18 years has been a love hate affair. On one side you have this ecosystem that plays really well when all your gadgets are from the same family. Once you make peace with all you are “allowed” to do you really don’t feel the need for anything else. On the other hand it can be frustrating when you realize you want to do things a bit out of the box and then you have to pay a premium for the choices you have made for your computing needs.

For gaming, that is PC gaming, Windows wins hands-down. Moving on to mobile computing Apple has delivered on performance and battery life where Windows devices including the ones from Microsoft have failed for the last quite a few years now.

There is no one-shoe fits all solution anymore as computing requirements have diversified and technology is evolving at an exponential pace. As time goes, you will find that your choice of OS will become less and less relevant as they will all be doing the same things and mostly over the cloud. It will increasingly become a subjective choice informed primarily by personal preferences. Not to mention, the image conscious folk projecting their tech as status symbols.
