done by USB port and a PSU for HDD/SSD comes with dock.

with old HDD removed fron old tower

once all hooked  windows will see  the docking station/drives

and you can copy off old drive to newm system

if OS same as new can use lan to share drive

Note: don't have to have USB 3.0 to use dock most are compatible, just the transfer speed is best with speed of transfer/copy

This is the one I use  -  only $30 - have 2 - use it on a regular basis to do clones, backups, data retrievals

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UAA4J6G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In your photo the USB ports are the 2 in the middle - the one that appears to have blue plastic is  a USB 3, the black is a USB 2

I’ve had good luck with the vantec sata/ide to usb adapter on both a laptop and tower ide harddrive.  It also includes a power adapter as well.  Think I spent around $20 for it on amazon.

yes  using a USB flash drive  or Eraser hardware, can copy usermaps from old system and copy over to new system to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\profiles\MajorMarks\usermaps

and

C:\Users\MajorMarks\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps

can do same with profile if want to keep it

once you get  your HDD dock also get  sticky note pad and a perminate marker to write contents of the drive on note  pad and

HDD: date, size and OS on drive with marker also  ID them by HDD 1, 2 etc then log contents in lined note book to drive number to catolog the data

Cant believe no one yet as mentioned this yet - a live boot of linux is all you need

It's the best method of accessing files without an OS, you can boot linux via USB/CD and grab the files (unless the drive is encrypted then that's an issue)

Barron you still see file an your correct will need to release  user on old drive and make a new one regardless of OS

Here's how to take ownership and get full access to files and folders in Windows 10.
...
Right-click on a file or folder.
Select Properties.
Click the Security tab.
Click Advanced.
Click "Change" next to the owner name.
Click Advanced.
Click Find Now.
Select your username and click OK.
