It’s was easy to politicize it when living in CA. When at its worse CA because of there policies had ships waiting off shore for up to 5 months to unload there cargo.  The SF bay was a huge parking lot so they mandated they stay off shore till room opened up.  In the mean time they were working over the truckers every way they could slowing down the whole process of unloading.  And even now with all that went in there passing laws that will remove thousands of trucks from operation in CA when they are needed the most to distribute the cargo.  All part of them wanting to go green with out think8ng is f the affect it has on our supply chain

You are correct, there is a desperation to 'Go Green' despite the majority of the manufacturing world ignoring it entirely. They are just sitting back watching our costs rise, exports dwindle and people suffer, never mind now Gretas 19 and growing up there might be a common sense approach, ha ha.

People are resurrecting old wood burners and open fires to burn wood they find on the roadside. The environment is the last thing on a lot of people's minds this year, with energy costs getting ridiculous

A raging epidemic that nobody could stop might have had a little something to do with how things went. But I suppose we could have done nothing and let the chips fall where they may. And if things go bad? Guess who gets blamed. Can’t win either way so might as well go for what you think is right even if others think you are wrong.

For a long time we have been pretty fortunate with reasonable energy costs. And we the people got complacent with how much we used. That’s just how humans are. Take everything we want, not what we need. Some kind of sport I guess. Who can get the most shit for the least money, if any, wins the game.

Don't know whether it's true or not (I don't believe all I read) but apparently people are being fined in Europe for gathering wood. The argument is that all trees are owned by private citizens or the state, therefore you are stealing? If it gets real bad you'll have to guard your garden fences, interesting admission last week that the so called 'green' bio mass fuels, now used in power stations, are more polluting than coal, don't we just love 'experts'?

Doesn't make sense to clear cut American forests to make wood pellets, then ship them to Europe to burn as biomass. Unless, you're in on the carbon credits & "renewables" game that the western governments play. They tried to get Africa to join in, but they told the greenies to piss off. None of the numbers add up to anything useful, especially with China, India, & Russia ignoring the new religion.

Does that mean the various nations are wrong to try and do the green thing? Or are china and the other usual suspects wrong for not trying at all?

No, it means either they all do it or all ignore it, the current situation is that the largest polluters are doing nothing, while the others are trying at great cost. To put it in Rob terminology 'They are pissing against the wind, and paying heavily for it'.

By the way Sammy the USA are one of the worst, but do try in certain sectors, China, Russia and India make no attempt at all, so they will always be cheaper, the only way to change this will be punishment.

I guess that means those countries, since they will do nothing, means everyone else should just fold. Pretty much says that they can say ‘no’, the rest of us follow what they say, and they rule.

Some would say catch-22. Others would say it should be just like how you live your own life and do what you think is right. As opposed to giving in and not complaining about it.

Pretty much, in a world wide problem if they don't all 'buy in' it's a waste of effort isn't it?, and that's the situation which is likely to remain.

I guess an issue, if you only do something when everyone agrees, those that say ‘no’ control everyone else.

I guess it can be compared to having a house in a run down neighborhood. Do you fix up your own house even though others don’t? Knowing that it won’t make your neighborhood any better? Or do you throw your hands up?  Or maybe try and sell at a discount. Maybe we should ask the martians if they want to pick up earth for cheap. As-is of course.

I'm all for the euthanasia solution. If your multiple mansion, jet setting, vineyard owning governor has you convinced you have offended gaia, by all means remove yourself from the equation.

Just so there is no misunderstanding. There is something wrong with a governor, or higher, owning multiple mansions, jets, or vast amounts or property.  😛

Funny how people complain about rich politicians... except the ones they like.
