Newegg has a pretty awesome pc builder too, not sure if they do Canadian tho..  Putting them together is pretty simple process.  You'd be able to build a better PC for the $ this way, rather than buying a prebuilt tower.   For me, I enjoy trying to get the most bang for my buck while checking out the new products.

AMD and Nvdia use different ways to identify what you are getting.

Nvidia

3060 = 30 generation / 60 series

3070 same generation but slightly better card.

40 gen is the newest card.  4090 being the best.

anything with ti after it is like another 1/2 step up.  Both #'s are important.  An older generation card that is higher in series can outperform a newer generation lower series card.

sooo, a 4060 could be outperformed by 3070ti or many other older cards.

AMD stuff is rated nearly the same although I am less familiar with it.

Comparing the 2 can be difficult.  AMD in the past has been a bit of an underdog, and slightly cheaper to piece together.  These days, they are so close in price and performance that it's really just a preference.

Here is nearly an identical machine to mine for around 2100 CAD

AMD GPUs are very hit and miss. 5700 is about the same as a GTX 2070 to be honest. The best route for AMD is a rx6700xt for the price to performance value.  I think the 3070ti is a little bottle necking to the CPU but i could be wrong. And with new games today 16gb barely gets by anymore sadly so safe to get 32gb instead.

@BlackRose Please don't buy those, ready in a box, PC('s).  I hope you did not purchase anything as this Black Friday is there. I am even suggesting, not to buy anything right now.

If you want, we could grab parts together and you and I, are going to build your PC. I would even say, cancel your order if you already did.

We can discuss this by a DM/PM first and go from there.

i7 can be misleading, generation is really important.  if you're talking a new 12th or 13th gen then yes i7 is prob better.  Myold cpu was an i7 seventh gen.  New one is an i5 thirteenth gen and much much faster.  The more cores, the better generally.

The way it's setup it shouldn't let you pick parts that are incompatible.   Start with a higher end CPU, then select the next part on the list.

Let me help you out and going through the details and such, by a PM/DM. That way, I know what your budget is and the right options for you. I am glad you didn't buy anything yet, so we can talk during the week if you'd like. First we go through what your "old" things are to lift over and planning the parts. In the end, you can share what you are getting, here. I love to help you, you know that 🙂

Ahem, you know that list that you made is personal, right? Meaning, that is what you see and we don't ;)

I suggest you look for AMD's 5800X3d (important, not the regular 5800X) and pick a nice AM4 motherboard. Those motherboards right now are cheap-ish. I see that you want to keep your old one, that is fine. The DDR4 RAM prices aren't that high.

As for Intel or, as you mentioned, an i7, those are very expensive. Just like the motherboards are as such End of Life too. And you pay like 1,5 times more.

Ideally is that you look for a brand new AMD's AM5 motherboard and pick a 7600X. Therefor you could always upgrade, and for years to come, the CPU. You also go from DDR4 to DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. That is future-proof too. The DDR5 RAM prices are dropping and before you know it, the DDR4 prices would be higher.

I made this list for you. What I wanted to say in private, that is, I was willing to send you over an AMD AM4 motherboard.

Check out the list I made. I could make you a new one tomorrow for a different one.

I thought why not, already 'late' ;)

Here a better future-proof list for you. Check what I left open, that you can pick yourself like a
M.2 SSD storage and such.

If you can, pick a 7700X over an 7600X. That is still under the 12700k price. Plus, with a 7600X/7700X, you don't have to worry, if you buy next GEN CPU later, from AMD.

With AM5, you can be sure of 4 years of CPU socket support. That you don't have with Intel, period.

I think this is a very good list.  I would personally go with an AMD GPU in this case too..  The 3060ti is a good card but for the price I think AMD wins this one.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. The RX6800 would even compliment each other. I stay away, far away from NVidia videocards. I only have to mention the new (burning) 12pin(?) power-plug they use. Also, the 3060Ti/3070 only has 8GB and that is such a shame.
