Snow & frigid temps rest of the week. Finally got around to installing new Dorman wheel studs & spacers on my Walker mower. Had to chuck them in the lathe & cut .020 off the shoulders, but they fit fine. Snowblower mounted & tire chains that clear the frame, wish I didn't need them.

Got about a foot of snow the other day, another couple inches last night, now it's raining with a rainfall warning and with temps forecasted to hit 9°C today.  From -9 last night to +9 today.  Oy... From snowblower to squeegee...

I'm sure there's days were chains or spikes on my blower tires would come in handy.

Wheel studs were longer than the factory installed on the hubs. Had to get the tires out further so the chains would clear. I could throw snow, but on my hills I had to back up on ice, otherwise I wasn't going anywhere. Need to rearrange my garage so I can get the tractor out, it never failed to climb, ice or not.

After living in Eastern Washington State for 44 years.... I must say that I have become used to everything from a dusting to 4 feet in the front yard.  Now that I live in Alabama... those days are gone, I hope..... (I am one of those that think we are in the throws of an early mini ice age).  Never had a Snowblower, but I had a decent neighbor that had a tractor with a rear blade and I would take him out for a steak a few times a year.  So, I don't know about studs or chains on a snowblower, although I would assume that lighter weight machines would call for chains.  But, I have a bit of experience when it comes to Vans and etc.  For me, if the snow is a foot or less then studs are best for me,  I drove a work van with 10 or more men every other week 65 miles to work in every kind of weather.  We got a lot of black ice and that stuff is awful.   Anyway, just wanted to put in mine 2 cents.    🙂

Cool Pic !  But you had better drink the beer fast.... Beer slushes at 27º and what little alcohol will freeze at -173.2º.  But if you want a quick Cold beer get a paper towel wet, wrap that paper towel around your bottle, and pop it in the freezer. Ten minutes later, you will have a nice, chilled beer.  😀

What kind of lathe do you have ?  I've been looking for an old Bridgeport Manual Mill for a while locally.  Hard to find one in which the "ways" are not worn and sloppy.  But a lathe is on my list too.

Used the lathe at work, I don't have 3 phase here. It's a WEN, chinese thing. We had an Atlas bench lathe, but Mormon got dibs on it & took it home. We have a Bridgeport clone, made in Japan, that is an excellent mill, & I love using it.

I would need a 3 phase inverter also installed in my garage too.  But well worth the cost to repair and fabricate things.  Fun stuff.

Well, yes and no!  As far as my Internet Connection.... other than prepping the area and clearing the right of ways, nothing is happening at this time..... BUMMER.  As far as anything else, I am having to take it easy for awhile.  Two weeks ago my six foot ladder and I took a trip.  I have been working in the old barn trying to get everything the way "I" want it and take care of leaks in the metal roof and such.  The barn floor has a lot of hard as rock manure from the ages around the walls of the barn.  We have had a lot rain in the past few weeks and evidently enough water seeped in under manure.  I sat my ladder up where it needed to be made sure it was stable and went up to the 3rd step and began drilling deck screws in some 2x4's I was adding.  Then, the front left leg went through the crust and the ladder twisted out from under me and fell on its side, I came down on my feet but at an angle and I fell backward on to the ladder leg with the middle of my back.  To make a long story short, I now have a vertebra with a small crack in it.  I absolutely cannot sit up when lying down, it really hurts.  But I can roll to my side and push myself up.  Otherwise I am unaffected and nothing hurts in any other position.  The good thing is my Doctor says that it should ease in awhile.  Might have to have a little Physical Therapy, don't know yet.  Other than that "Things are just Peachy" 🤪
