Never had good eyes, nearsighted all my life. Now that old age has set in, have to juggle glasses for my limited focal range. Can't seem to game for more than 45 minutes without having to step outside and gaze at the horizon. Work doesn't help, constantly checking color charts, work orders, and statements. Paying for all those years welding and torching.....ah, bugger it, we aren't built to last forever, and it's still fun to stick a knife in Ricko.

Thank You so much, the hardest part will be not being able to play in the server with everyone. The up side is that my wife will be able to get some game time and learn. Have to always look at the positive side of things cause it always could be worse.

I too suffer from long sightedness, i wear spectacles for reading and playing games on my PC, 4 years ago when i had my eyes tested i also asked them to also test them for spectacles for my PC, since then i wear one pair for reading and one pair for playing on my PC and yes sometimes i suffer from the same condition you have especially in my right eye, it's because even with PC spectacles i still stare at this bloody screen for too long, it's up to you if you want to see a Doctor about it m8 but i think it is just eye strain from too much gaming, i was fine up until about 5 years ago when i got a bad case of conjunctivitis, my right eye closed completely for about 4 days and my left eye was pretty bad too but at least i could still see out of it, since then i have had more problems with my right eye, sometimes when i doze off and then try to open my eyes it feels like my right eye is going to pop out of it's socket and i have to physically open it with my fingers lol.

I just had Shoulder Surgery so I won't be playing for a little. My wife Lovyan who is a XI member will be playing in the freeze tags servers, she is not use to playing freeze tag and is learning and I will be by her side to help. So don't get annoyed if she has a time unthawing or misses you she is learning the fast pace of the mod.

Think you've got eye strain mate, I have it too. You need regular breaks and something to stop the harmful blue light from screens, especially in the evening and the day - there is a program you can get for your PC called f.lux which you can use to filter out the UV lights and is great for your eyes. You can set what time the screen should start filtering out the harmful shit and what not.

I experience left eye problems while playing the game when there are females on...might be the excessive winking from my part. The pain I experience is more of a heartache though.. you can try getting some glasses that have anti-blue light filtering in them that helps block the UV blue light from the screen.

Tried mp_fatherland in the FT server and crashes so no go here with that one. Found a new version of freedom1, mp_snr_freedom2, and seems to work ok so it is part of this weeks FT rotation. @2_MANY_BEERS @Labob I can't seem to get into the redirect at the moment so if you could add freedom2 so it can be downloaded. copy of the map is on the FT server usermaps so can grab from there. As soon as we say we "can't" do something, we're right......we can't. Because we've already shut our minds to the possibilities before we even entertain the what-if's or the how-to's. Instead of saying "I can't afford to go", why not change that to "How can I afford to go"? This will open your mind up to many ideas that you wouldn't ever think about as soon as you said "can't". And this little "trick" works for many situations in life. If XI Fest is something you'd like to attend but you think you can't because of finances, please read on: So, over the next week or so, I'm going to share some ideas and tips that you can use to plan on attending XI Fest this year, either Euro or USA, and these same ideas and tips can be applied to other things you'd like to plan, save for, and experience in the future. But, before you know the tips and tricks of saving for a specific event, you first have to know your budget. How much is this trip going to cost? Without knowing that, you won't have a clear idea of exactly how much you'll need to set aside. A trip budget, as for anything else, can help keep you from overspending, while making sure you get to do the things you really want to do. Before I go any further, I'll say this.....even if you're just thinking about going, not sure about going, or would really like to go but aren't sure how you'll get there financially, then I suggest you first ask to be added to the PM regarding all of the XI Fest details for the US Fest, or check out and follow the posts regarding the Euro Fest. Information is being provided and discussed regarding hotel costs, things to do, etc., so you can get a better idea of how much money you'll need. Then determine how you'll get there. Will you need to fly, drive, carpool with someone that's along your route so you can share travel expenses? At which hotel will you choose to stay? Or do you live close enough that you won't need lodging? Can you share a room with other XI members in order to save on the hotel bill? Those are your two largest costs, and should be determined as closely to their actual costs as possible when planning. Then you can figure out how much you'll need for food, activities, souvenirs, etc. Once you have this ballpark dollar amount, divide it by the number of months that are left until the XI Fest. The Euro Fest is a bit sooner than the US Fest, but it's still possible if you set your mind to it. If you need help with your budget, let me know. I also have a great trip budgeting calculator that I can share with you. So, for example, let's say you've determined you need $1,000 for your trip to XI Fest. With 5 months left until the US Fest in September, that comes out to $200 per month. That might sound like a lot, so break it down even further. There's 20 weeks left until the fest, so that's $50 a week or $7 a day. That seems more manageable and attainable when you break it down like that. That $7 a day could be foregoing your Starbucks fix, or not ordering pizza for the third time this week Little things can add up to a lot over time. Another great idea to consider once you know how much you will need to save is to open up a bank account specifically for your trip, or whatever else you are saving for. Make sure you tell your bank you don't want a debit card for the account. This will make it more difficult to "borrow" money from it in a moment of weakness. Faithfully put the money in each week or month, and don't skip a deposit and tell yourself you'll make it up the next time. We usually don't end up making it up for whatever reason, and then we're behind with our plan. Also, the physical act of moving or depositing the money into a vacation or special fund is a good mental exercise in keeping the funds separate from your general sources of money. So, here's another great idea for having money for your trip to Nashville, or whatever else you want to save up for..... If you feel the same way I do......life is about experiences and memories, not stuff. So, go through your stuff, and the stuff you don't use or don't need or don't want - SELL IT! With so many great apps out there now, you no longer have to go through the hassle and time of holding a garage sale. There's places like eBay or Facebook garage sale groups for starters. On Facebook, just type in your local city or county with the words "garage sale" after it, and you should be able to join that group and post whatever it is you have for sale. Make sure you are mindful of the group's rules, since each group will differ in what it allows or doesn't allow. You list what you're selling and how much you want for it, and then make arrangements with the person that wants your stuff. If you are tech savvy and like to do things on your phone, then there's OfferUp and letgo, just to name a couple. You make a quick post about what you're selling, and then just sit back and wait for someone to be interested in your stuff I've had quite a bit of success myself selling household items, shoes, clothing, and even office-related surpluses of file cabinets or chairs, etc. It may not seem like much, but $10 here and $25 there, and another $15 on FB, and soon you have $50 in your pocket and less stuff to dust around or take with you every time you move And, ideas like this are "found" money, so it's not coming out of your pocket to save it. You've already spent the money on the stuff, and by getting rid of said stuff, you have more money to toss into that dedicated vacation account that you don't have a debit card for so that you can't withdraw money for no good reason Getting rid of $50 of stuff per month for 5 months gives you another $250 toward your $1,000 budget. Selling your stuff and collecting change could net you close to $500 by the time September rolls around.........are you starting to see the possibilities yet when it comes to wanted $ for something you really want?

Problem with UV filter on prescription glasses is that the coating will start to wear off after a year or 2. My 3 year old glasses had a UV filter on them and I had to take them in and have it polished off. Didn't bother having them re-coated. You can get filtered non prescription ANTI BLUE LIGHT UV clear glasses specifically made for using with a Computer off of Amazon for around $20 shipped. They are pretty expensive but they do a great job. I got Mom one for the Nook HD+ 9 inch that I got her for her Birthday last year. She reads alot and it was giving her a bit of a head ache. RobMc,see a Dr. I have type 2 diabetes and waited to long to get my eyes checked and I did some damage to my retina,I can't see things in game if the player is too far away,my left eye is good.I just wanted to say that I get injections in both eyes yes with a needle for the last at least 14 years and so far they have not gotten any worse,If I didn'y get these shots I would've lost my vision by now.Lucentis is the drug they inject me with at $1,800 a shot per eyeball.Glad it's covered over here in Canada.I don't know what you have but just make sure from the doctor before there is damage done.Good luck man.I asked for glasses but was told I'd be wasting my money cause I would be buying glasses a lot cause my vision fluctuates daily depending on my sugar levels.

Yea just googled them and best option seems to be safety glasses which are only about ten quid, I'll try them.

I am glad everyone is safe, I hope they can get the damages covered by the neighbors home-owners insurence and out of pocket expenses. It is great also that they friends to help them out.

I had never suffered from it in my life up until that point m8, i had no idea how contagious it was, in fact i had no idea it was contagious at all, from leaving my house to go to the Doctors (about a 10/15 minute journey) my right eye had closed completely, looked like i had been in a fight, my Doctor never told me it was contagious and just prescribed some drops, as it is with my bad luck i had a hospital appointment 2 days later to get a camera rammed up my arsehole and it was only then i found out it was contagious....think it had something to do with them isolating me in a room on my own and everyone one else running away screaming lol, i had to go home with no camera up my bumhole....damn it, had to wait a couple of weeks until the conjunctivitis had completely gone until had the pleasure...ooerr Missus, i did do some research because of this and discovered that some forms of conjuctivitis can affect your eyes for years afterwards...and i think that's what has happened to me, i always wash my hands now if i have been to a shop and have handled money and keep my hands away from my face too, i also keep some of that gel stuff in the car that Nurses use on their hands in hospitals to keep all the nasty's away too.

My daughter was at work. Her husband came home from work and seen it. Called her and she left work. All their friends came over and cut the tree up, loaded it in their trucks and took it away. She said boy oh boy I am so glad I am leaving for Cuba tomorrow lol
