Most of you on Freezetag know me pretty well. I play hard, never moan or complain ... but at the end of the day, I enjoy letting off some steam with you all. I'm 50ish ... married 30 yrs. 2 teenaged kids. Protestant Christian. I own a small appliance repair biz. Live in the country on an acreage. Grow most of my own food. Chickens. Bee's. Tap Maple trees. Heat with wood. I do some bookbinding on the side and will slowly move into that as my trade as I wind down being an appliance repair guy. I coach varsity HS basketball at a fairly high level (AAAA is the highest level here in MB and my team was 6th in the Prov in 2019,) but am locked out of my school for covid. So no coaching for a full year now. In defiance of the rulz, I ran an underground bbl gym this past winter in a warehouse so I could keep training kids. Lets see ... what else? That's all I can come up with. Sums up who I am IRL I guess. Cheers all and thanks for the servers!

I just wanted to say thanks to Everyone for all the prayers and well wishes for my dad over these last months. To recap Dad is 88 and has been fighting Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney Failure. This past December he started Dialysis which took quite a toll on him. We had a very hard few months trying to stabilize his condition while moving them to a beautiful apartment and trying to get their house cleaned out and ready for sale. Trying to have the parents transition from total independent living to an apartment was a very hard transition for us all. The house as you can imagine was full of 88 years of STUFF. Adding Covid into the mix has been brutal. In March dad's health really deteriorated. He couldn't breath and almost lost consciousness many times. He could not walk 20 feet and could barely get out of his chair. I had to hold him up most times so he wouldn't fall. On Monday the 19th he was fitted with a wearable heart monitor. Tuesday the 20th I picked him up for Dialysis and returned the monitor. Trying to get him to the car he almost passed out twice. I picked him up from dialysis at 6:00 pm, put him in the car, returned the wheel chair. By the time I got back to the car about 30 feet I thought he was dying in front of me. things settled down, he refused to go back in and I took him home. At 8:00 pm His heart specialist read the monitor and I had to bring hi in to the emergency department. Wednesday the 21st he had a dye test, Thursday he had 2 stents put in his heart. Monday he had a combination Defibrillator/pacemaker implanted in his chest. Today he had dialysis and is home. Sometime we criticize our Canadian health care but in our experience have had nothing but spectacular service. Yes we pay high taxes but my family has reaped the benefits of the great work our health system provides. We are so thankful to our medical professionals. Fearing dad would not be with us much longer 2 of my sisters and my Older brother were able to travel home for passionate grounds. My sisters isolated for 14 days at a private camp and my brother arrived a few days later and isolated in my parents home and started getting things ready for the sale. I am so thankful to have my siblings here to help it's been a rough few years dealing with frail parents. Dad is so happy to see them. He has the biggest heart, he told me all he has to live for is his family. Quote"I love all my children, grandchildren and Great grandchildren." He is the most loving father anyone could ask for! He tells the Dr's every time I don't want to go anywhere yet, I have too many babies to love, more are on the way and I haven't met them yet. this has been quite a journey for all involved. Dad is like a miracle man he just keeps fighting. We are blessed for every minute we have him here. Again thank you all! Thanks for taking the time to read this. Wayne

They did that because they tried very hard to make Ketchup like pickle relish a Vegetable in school food programs and needed to know how much more they could squeeze out of the few dollars they still spend on feeding poor children in school what is supposed to be a balanced nutritious meal since some schools also provide a morning meal as well. Since fruits and veggies must be served everyday and we all know kids hate veggies and Republicans hate spending money on living children while fighting for unborn children they have had to be creative in meeting current guidelines that keep getting worse with every passing decades. If not for the free lunch program when I was in High School I and my brothers may have starved. During H.S. our Dad was almost killed in a accident with a train hitting the 40 ft delivery van he was driving and never worked again because of his injuries. I got a job at 14.5 during Freshman year washing dishes 3 nights a week at our local Elks Lodge for the money as well as the fact that the members ate very well but didn't use any of the food leftover. So the President of the Lodge who had been my dads boss and got me the job made sure I was sent home with all the leftovers which was mostly full Prime Rib Roasts or Tenderloins and all the fixings. Personally my start into programming was gaming and allot of that was XI. I somehow got involved in Crysis server mods; I think it was in looking at the mods for the previous community I was in. We were trying to solve an in-game issue with the mod and it needed some slight scripting changes, it was an easy change but that ease inspired me to look into it more. I then got involved in that modding community and ended up becoming a developer for the mod. XI allowed me to expand into messing with other types of programming and to 'solve' problems with it. My initial code was shit and I remember Steve (Ph4nt0m) telling me about threading and how to instantiate threads so not to lock up the UI etc. I ended up going to university and yes I learned a load of stuff about "data structures and algorithms" whilst there but the true experience and knowledge came from what I have done in XI. That is what I discussed in my first job interview to be a trainee software engineer at the UK MoD, less so the University course. My XI projects have generally been a way for me to learn a new technology/tool/stack and then use that to excel in my professional career. I was lead software engineer of a team (two at one point) responsible for some pretty substantial services and projects for the MoD before I left a couple of years back to start my own company and I now work on a consultancy/contract basis brought in to be an expert in certain topics. So my advice; find a problem you want to solve and give it a shot - choose a language that comes up in Google when you start researching around the problem. Be a polygot developer; I usually am Microsoft stack but have implemented personal, XI and professional solutions in many different languages on many different stacks.

That's pretty cool @Sitting-Duc! I've never really tried to learn coding at all. I've thought about it often over the years, just no fallow through. I can read some source code and get the basic idea or what certain strings of code is doing, but actually typing it out myself.. I would be lost. The more I'm looking into it, I'm wondering if I should look into free computer science course videos or just free ball it into some code and figure it out? lol I'm kind of thinking free ball it! Sense i've started some computer science videos and they take it back to the biblics and start talking about binary.. However, I feel like I should start on basic code structure first? IDK

I finally saved enough money and got it. The new 49" ULTRA-WIDE SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G9 @240HZ. God damn this monitor is soooo nice. Love the graphics. It was a bitch to update it. Lucky there was a thread about it on http://www.overclockers.co.uk On how to update it. Even down to how to and what you need to install it. Also what kind of USB you needed otherwise it wouldn't of worked. But very excited and loving this Samsung G9 240HZ HD 4K !!!!
