I have to give a big shout out for the Military Luggage Company, http://www.militaryluggage.com/ , after what they have recently done. I've been a follower of them on facebook for awhile now. They are always, and I mean always supporting and standing up for our military and their families, whether they are active duty or not. Along with having contests for gear that they sell, not the cheap stuff either. Recently I ordered the VooDoo coyote mini mojo bag and the Voodoo Level III Enlarged Assult Pack for traveling and hiking. First off, they went and changed my ground shipping to 2nd day air for free. When I got my order they had included a lunch back with their logo, some decals and a shirt. I had to pick the shirt out before they would send it to me. Instead I contacted them asking that they do a random contest for the shirt, they have random contests often, and I wanted to anonymously honor a couple of my friends that gave their life for our country. The first one being Timothy Saunders, I served with him on the Battleship Wisconsin, Saunders was killed on the USS Cole when it was attacked in Yamen. The other one is Jim Thode, a close family friend, he was killed while disarming an i.e.d. on December 2, 2010 in Afghanistan. Military Luggage Company promptly replied and said they would do one better. They would donate 2 of their better shirts that say "My heroes don't wear capes, they wear dog tags". They are going to have 2 random contests for the shirts next week in honor of Saunders and Thode.

Thank you to all my fellow military, active or not, and their families.

For most of my life I remember listening to Paul Harvey on the radio and reading him in the papers, and always enjoyed his editorials.

In 1964 he wrote an editorial simply titled "If I was the Devil".  Over the years he updated it to fit current events, but I prefer the original and am amazed how it somewhat fits the world today. Read it and see if you don't agree.

    If I Were the Devil

If I were the Prince of Darkness I would want to engulf the whole earth in darkness.

I'd have a third of its real estate and four-fifths of its population, but I would not be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree.

So I should set about however necessary, to take over the United States.

I would begin with a campaign of whispers.

With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whispers to you as I whispered to Eve, "Do as you please."

To the young I would whisper "The Bible is a myth." I would convince them that "man created God," instead of the other way around. I would confide that "what is bad is good and what is good is square."

In the ears of the young married I would whisper that work is debasing, that cocktail parties are good for you. I would caution them not to be "extreme" in religion, in patriotism, in moral conduct.

And the old I would teach to pray — to say after me — "Our father which are in Washington."

    Then I'd get organized.

I'd educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull, uninteresting.

I'd threaten TV with dirtier movies, and vice-versa.

I'd infiltrate unions and urge more loafing, less work. Idle hands usually work for me.

I'd peddle narcotics to whom I could, I'd sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction, I'd tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the Devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions; let those run wild.

I'd designate an atheist to front for me before the highest courts and I'd get preachers to say, "She's right."

With flattery and promises of power I would get the courts to vote against God and in favor of pornography.

Thus I would evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, then from the Houses of Congress.

Then in his own churches I'd substitute psychology for religion and deify science.

If I were Satan I'd make the symbol of Easter an egg

And the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the Devil I'd take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. Then my police state would force everybody back to work.

Then I would separate families, putting children in uniform, women in coal mines and objectors in slave-labor camps.

If I were Satan I'd just keep doing what I'm doing and the whole world go to hell as sure as the Devil.

The reason Dean is doing it this way is because he has become the COD5 shit disturber and has found something to bitch about on almost every topic. In his last escapade he has been told to drop it leave it be its over and told this by people he plays with the senior admins the head admins and the game admins. He had a very hard time doing that and it got serious.  Now he thinks he does not have the right to say his peace in the forums. I for one would like to see what this new issue is. As drama around here goes he's the new King. Get it out of your system Dean.

The Controversy Continues: Speed of Light Slowing Down? by Chuck Missler
The field of physics worships at the altar of c, the velocity of light. It is widely regarded as the inviolate constant which affects all things: from our knowledge of astronomy to the very behavior of subatomic particles. Even the basic relationship between mass and energy is known by every schoolboy as E = mc2.

For many years, and in many of our previously published materials, we have made allusions to the very controversial view, held by some, that the speed of light (usually designated mathematically by "c") has been slowing down.1 We have, naturally, received a number of adverse reactions from those who have difficulties dealing with this possibility.

Evidence suggesting that the velocity of light, c, has been slowing down throughout history was first reported by Barry Setterfield and Trevor Norman for some years.2 Now two physicists-Dr. Joao Magueijo, a Royal Society research fellow at Imperial College, London, and Dr. Andreas Albrecht, of the University of California at Davis-are proposing that, immediately after the universe was born, the speed of light may have been far faster than its present-day value of 186,000 miles per second.3 They now believe that it has been slowing down ever since. The effects predicted by their theory are to be published in the prestigious scientific journal, Physical Review. "If it's true, it would be a very big leap forward that will affect our perception of the universe and much of theoretical physics," said Dr. Magueijo.
One mystery that it seems to be able to explain is why the universe is so uniform-why opposite extremes of the cosmos that are too far apart to have ever been in contact with each other appear to obey the same rules of physics and are even at about the same temperature. It would only be possible for light to cross from one side to the other if it traveled much faster than today moments after the universe was created, between 10 billion and 15 billion years ago. Their hypothesis suggests it was so fast that it could have been travelling at 186,000 miles a second multiplied by a figure with 70 zeroes after it!

Calculations based on the theory also give the most elegant explanation for the speed at which the universe appears to be expanding, which is thought to be just fast enough to avoid an eventual collapse to a big crunch. Instead, the universe would simply grow forever-though at a decreasing rate-and its ultimate fate, it is suggested, would be a slow, lingering death as all the stars burn out and every particle of matter within it separates.

"It is remarkable when you can find one simple idea that has so many appealing consequences," said John Barrow, professor of astronomy and director of the Astronomy Centre at the University of Sussex, who has collaborated with Magueijo and Albrecht.
It is disturbing that with this view continuing to gain credibility in some quarters, acknowledgment of the contributions of Setterfield, Norman, and others is conspicuous by its absence.

Right...because I lock my children in the house and they aren't allowed to interact with any of their friends as a home schooler.......not exactly. Both of my daughters still participate in the local schools via a couple clubs, (FFA and 4H) as well as participate in the drama department productions of plays and musicals...plus all of their friends from the neighborhood we live in, so they get plenty of social interaction. This supposed lack of social interaction with home schooling is a myth.

I agree that parents that do this need to be willing to put in the effort to make it a success. There are numerous resources available to parents that do not have the educational background of a typical teacher...as well as private tutors. I have a medical degree and a masters degree...and my wife has a BSN...so we both have the knowledge base to make it work out for us fairly easily....but others can succeed if willing to put forth the time and effort.

The purpose of Common Core, is to dumb down all learning to the average stupidest kid in the class. This way, instead of getting left behind and possibly needing to repeat a grade or class....the whole class gets dragged down with them and they all graduate barely knowing anything. You know...it's the same principal that most liberal progressives believe in with regard to wealth re-distribution. Rather than figure out ways to make everyone better...they would rather re-distribute the pain and suffering to everyone to make things "fair". This is the reason why I have home schooled both of my daughters. My older daughter just turned 16, and is currently taking all of her classes at the local college. When she graduates from high school, she will also be graduating with an Associate's degree at the same time. My younger daughter is 14 and a freshman, but is currently reading and doing math at a junior level. Most of the bureaucrats and politicians that voted for this crap don't even send their own kids to public schools....they go to private schools...because as we all know....Socialism is for the people....not the socialist. The real 1% in this country are the politicians...they all think they know what is best for us "little people".
