  1. I am seriously hoping that BF1 will be all that BF3 once was... This is the first BF title I will be skipping the day one buying (or even pre-ordering) of. I will only get BF1 if the (none-bought, so Angry-Joe's and reviewers like him) sentiment will be positive. I really have high hopes: It's got a rock solid (frostbite 2,5 (which essentially is BF3)) engine which is tested to all hell and back. The (PC) servers are going to be 64 FPS, which is competative as all hell. For the first time I won't be holding my breath until a BF title comes out, but I am for sure not calling it a turd (many youtubers) right now!
  2. It saddens me that I am not featured in the vid... other than that, nice vid bor!
  3. Hi folks, Some of you might know me from BF3 and BF4, but most of you will know Jack Frags; english youtuber. He just reviewed the VIVE VR set, and was quite positive about it. I don't usually trust reviews. I know that Jack is EA-affiliated; hence (slightly) untrustworthy. Then I watched some more vids. Almost 20. General consensus (from all the stuff that is posted by my top 20 reviewers (different affiliations; all Vive-vs-Rift)) is: They don't know (or are not paid-enough by the different companies...) which one is going to be better. What they do know is that the Morpheus is a console thing, and only have 30 fps and is shit (ALL agree that anything BELOW 90FPS is gamebreaking) from the get-go, and most likely have people puking on the coffee-table. Razer is another contender. But just consider their products, imagine using the Hydra (which has a shittier accuracy than WII controler), and the price they will be asking for their VR-helmet. What they all "think" or "guess" is that the Vive is better at using a room for VR (5 by 5 meters!!!), and the Rift will be better for seated VR-experiences. Tech-specs are roughly the same (Vive and Rift), but the general consensus is that the Vive is better at tracking. Neither will give you eye-tyfus when looking at them. Both say that specs are 90FPS @ 1080P both eyes. That is agreeable from my perspective; I am using 120FPS @ 1080p for a while now and all of you 1440p people might get eye-sadness, but a 50% boost in FPS. On that hand, 90% of the reviewers, and sometimes 100% of the reviewers say this between the lines: It is a gimmick. For now. It looks amaze balls. Like the W:II did. That was amazing. You could flick your hand towards a wall, and on screen a bowling ball went on the target. Everybody went wild. Everybody bought one, and after a month it was a nice paper-weight. So in my opinion: will it work in my everyday gaming: NO. It won't work in any FPS; it might come close to working in Arma3, but I still am pretty sure I'll shoot your face off quicker with a mouse. Some of you might know I home built a Track_IR5. It worked the treat. I am still using it when I go on DCS, and ARMA3. That is a proper bit of working, functional, affordable, immersive bit of kit I made for about 20 euros. This is a dangerous thing to say, but with that piece of kit I will out-fly most of the seasoned-pilots in both games. It just works. After 2 months a tweaking it's become an extension of my HOTAS. What I hope the VR-set will do is to IMPROVE my gaming for me. I want to look around corners, and shoot peoples in the face, while looking slighty over cover; just moving my actual face up. I want to be able look behind me, flying my (Star Citizen) Vanguard with a flick of my head, be able to judge the distance between me and the target, dis-engage Flight Assistance, throw the front of my space-ship around and introduce people with a Size 5 Chain Gun.... Brrrrrrt brrrrrrrrrrrrt.... I don't want to use the VR controllers. I have got the best controllers there are: HOTAS, mechanical keyboard+mouse, headtracking. I am pretty sure that is not what most software developers are aiming for when Vive and Rift come out. They (and 90% of their client base, i.e. including us sadly) want a nice gimmick they can show to their mates/friend/family: "Get in this virtual rollercoaster and do not throw up at my keyboard". It won't be positively game altering like the Track_IR was; that shit really made you a better ARMA2/3 player. It really improved your piloting in SC:Arena. I really can't see either Vive or Rift lead to competitive gameplay soon . And with soon I mean 2 years from now. On that bombshell: I have got clearance from the missus to actually build a gaming attic. You might understand my room is actually growing to be *at least* 5 by 5 meters. My eggs are in the VIVE-basket because of PC-compatibility. Just saying.
  4. I run a 120 Hz Iiyama screen on Full HD, but have it 27 inch size. That is somewhat too big; I can actually almost see the pixels sitting a normal distance away. Next time: 24 inch, 120 Hz, Full HD! Nice screens indeed!
  5. AKG Q701 (lime green edition) on a Soundblaster X7 DAC/AMP. I rock the Antlion Modmic on the set as a microphone. What it lacks in serious bass, it more than makes up in clarity. I can hear an nat fart 300 meters away and can tell you what it ate the day before. For extra bass I have a Buttkicker installed. Before that a Kraken... Still have that as backup... Also a very very good set!
  6. Thanks for your very informative post Freiheit. I know ZONK have been on the receiving end, and it takes "cohones" (look it up) to actually speak up. Your post is pretty much how I feel, and neither of us are paying for XI in the server. I think we reached what we were able to reach on the forums at page 3. Everything after that is like a swimming suit: You need it for public decency, but in all honesty, you feel better without. I would ask for a lock on topic if I were able. It's good to see people actually giving a crap about this game so much, they (me included) feel like taking the time to vent our opinion about it. The XI server is great. I knew about 50% of the player-base when it was still in the UK. I know 30% of you guys when it became a dutch server... I have a lot of fun on it, as I do with the banter. I am still enjoying my games immensely. Last night me and Freiheit teamed up and, fun was had. Eventhough ZONK is the bee's knees as far as most of you are concerned, I had to carry Freiheit so hard, my back is still hurting (I am lying). Lock please
  7. Okay. I think we had our little rant. I think Jay's, and the rest of XI's leaderships position is quite clear; as it is, it's fine. Like I said before, it's only a very select couple of maps and game modes I don't like playing against them. They are incredible FPS-ers. On the other hand for instance, Mista Mista is waaaay more effective in actually winning games for the team he is on. Can we just agree to NOT feed the trolls? Not on TS3 nor in BF4? I think that is the mature thing to do. So no more bashing ZONK or glorifying them then absolutely necessary? They are not hacking. They are not PTFO-ing. They just are. Accept that...
  8. I agree with Mav and Most, but this evening I saw something that should not happen on your server... There were people actually leaving because of ZONK supremacy, and some people asking you people [XI] members to move them/kick them and so on. I can live with that. It's fine. I am pretty sure, like well over (99%) none of them cheat. They are very "niched" players. They are great FPS-ers; they will NOT kill me (skill-wise) on any PTFO-game-mode. Rush, obliteration some bigger conquest maps: I say a couple of you XI and myself (because you need my skill, handsomeness and burping on TS obviously) will show them how it's done. But I am not talking about that. We all know this. What I found uncomfortable, is last night on Metro, "unregulars" were openly complaining about ZONK supremacy. Again. No problem. But the discussion in the server chat was more or less one or more ZONK members saying: "We are on here, playing as a single squad, and fudge the rest of the server, and you can't change anything about it.". One of the XI-regulars stood up against that, but he was dismissed by ZONK. I don't see it like that. There were more XI-members on, but none of them were admin, and couldn't do anything. You, the XI admins, allow people to play on servers YOU pay for. YOU and YOU alone decide who is on YOUR server. That being said: there are a LOT of people (again, myself not included) that think ZONK cheat. There are more people being annoyed by how well they FPS with a sniper (myself included). There are some people that just don't want to play against ZONK, because of the above. All in all, I think 70% of all regulars will not miss ZONK what so ever. That is including me. They might even applaud your decision to (finally) taking action. Or they might not join the server again. Last time I joined the server I was FIFTH in queue. Afaik I am a VIP-user. I am sure your server is on of the busier ones. You don't need ZONK to populate the server. Not even close. You might even get more regulars on, which you might be able to make FOXI or even XI... I'm sure that none of the ZONK's will join FOXI (or XI). In all fairness, I think it's really good to look back at what they did for the XI-server. When the server was switching from modes (hardcore with map, and without map), ZONK-members got people in XI-server. I was a regular back then, same with the HOGS. So, what do I think will happen when you start banning them? I think nothing. I might be FOURTH in queue. If I want a tough Clan-war, I'll give them a PM. Get some of my NATO guys to fight them; die horribly multiple times, and seeing my clans skill-range, losing the game all together. But I think the XI-server is not a clan-match server. It's a bunch of xtreme idiots (members and none-members) coming together, sending Brandon to the Tactical channel, muting Elmer, and having some fun while SEMI-PTFO-ing.
  9. I don't mind Zonk. And since they are in the same server as I am a lot, I can say this about them: They don't hack. I am sure of that. Not even close. They have some good FPS players in their clan. In their little niche, they are quiet good. The thing is, when they need to start PTFO-ing, they always lose. If some of their team is not quite on the ball, for instance... Their K/D is still up high though... But, if I want a high K/D ratio, I'd go and play "Solitaire", or "Heart-stone" . The BF series is about getting the objectives and winning the game, NOT about who has got the best K/D; that's the console twitch oriented COD-titles...
  10. Gonna play the shit out of the beta. But I used to pre-order the hell out of Battlefield (EA-fps) titles... Gonna pass on this; wait a couple of months until everybody figures out this has the same netcode as Battlefield Hardline included. Wait some more months until they fix that. And then maybe watch a review. Then I might be persuaded to buy it. Maybe.
  11. Nice one Racer! I knew you sucking up to the admins was for a reason!
  12. Congrats Jay!!! The powers that be decided, in their infinite wisdom, to give you even more powers in the BF channels. God knows why. Even I wasn't informed, nor consulted in this proces. Nonetheless: congrats are (apparently) in order!
